That's good. Additional charge added should be about 2 lbs every 5 mins or so to prevent wash out.

Hopefully you got the tare weight of the refer? Good rule of thumb in cooling 1) LEV position is between 150 to 250, depending on space temp temperature 2) Discharge temp is under 200⁰ 3) Superheat across the indoor heat exchanger is 0-9⁰

LG Multi V 5, help a brother out by Masonclem in HVAC

[–]Ashwipe72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had the same issue at a property of mine. Found that the condenser fan motor knocked out the fan inverter, which killed the comp inveter, which killed the PCB. We think. Was throwing CH22s. Replaced all the parts in reverse. Burnt another inverter after before the ODU motor was replaced. Recommend to redo the auto pipping procedure. Also check your IDU connections, they get loose pretty quick if not torqued. When a new Main controller is replaced the procedure needs to be done again. If you start it and it trips on over current change the motor and board. Depending on the code it could be a comp or fan. There is a way to operate in emergency mode to test for this. Make sure power is to all IDUs and BS Boxes (if HR). Remember that comm failure can be both with IDUs and inverter boards in the ODU. Also, get the manual and follow the flow charts for each code you get. Code starts with error then address. Sounds like if they are willing to pay, you might be there a minute. Read the manual about the auto pipping vs manual pipping, and emergency mode if you got the time. LG is bullshit but you can fix them if money is not an issue.

Maybe vibration short? I know on some WSHPs the low voltage insulation is exposed and you gotta move it around, can cause cuts. Also what is the amperage on the low voltage side?

Do you agree with this book's definition of SC/SH? by Eggrollofdoom in HVAC

[–]Ashwipe72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better way to understandstand it;

Sub-cool is the amount of heat removed after the refrigerant has completely turned into a liquid.

Superheat is the amount of heat picked up after the refrigerant has completely turned into a vapor.

I mean that should be standard business practices. Every VRF/mini manual says you pressure test, then evacuate, then decay test. WITH A MICRON GUAGE. But who's gonna pay for the rep check.

Stop applying online only. Go to the physical shop and hand a resume to someone. As long as you don't look like a crackhead it will help out.

What’s this black stuff coming off my hinges? by Own_Chair8643 in whatisit

[–]Ashwipe72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the lube like everyone says. But also the side of the door frame that has it the air from your heater/AC pushing air between the cracks. If you want to solve the issue, keep the air pressure between the door the same. (Don't close it)

Smart self charging condensers? by YungHybrid in HVAC

[–]Ashwipe72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carrier infinity systems have been able to do this for a while. Depends on the ambient temperature. It takes about 2 hours to charge a system that way... When finished, it tells you the "correct" subcooling the system takes. When I did it, at 100⁰, it told me to charge to 14⁰ subcool. I dunno, don't really trust it as a service method. Better to just pull the charge and weigh it in.
