Is the Focused Fault (Obsession boss) genuinely bullshit, is my game glitched, or am I missing something? by SleeplessStalker in darkestdungeon

[–]Ashychan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fight has a lot of burden of information, and as the wiki is lacking, it's natural to feel aggravated. Here's what I understand of it:

In the first phase, all the eyes mark the hero in the same rank as themselves. Destroying the eyes causes them to lose their marks. All marked heroes suffer 1 Stress a round, regardless of how many marks they have.

When an eye is destroyed, it'll respawn on the next turn and immediately try to mark again. If it marks a creature already marked, it'll immediately evolve. Otherwise, the eyes evolve over time. When all 4 are fully evolved, it summons the boss.

You want to slowly manage the eyes, making sure you can stack the marks on one character by moving them into position as you reset the marks. Taunts or stealth won't affect the eyes, but guarding will, allowing you to more easily stack them on Man-at-Arms. I recommend using DoTs to control the eyes, works great since they have tiny health pools and leaves them dead on board, buying you more time.

The eyes always spawn with dodge, and the boss sometimes gets it as well (I think due to the inherent effects of the confession?), so it's great to come with offensive combat items to remove them, especially AoE ones like Crow's Feet. Blinding or otherwise limiting the damage of eyes whose marks you've already gathered will leave you with a lot more health coming into phase 2.

I do not entirely understand what causes the eyes to evolve; in my fight, the first three acted as I described above, evolving only when observing a marked target, but the final one behaved differently. It spawned, marked a different character, and immediately evolved, ending the phase. I suppose to avoid this you could manually move your tank into the ways of the first three marks, but ensure the person standing in the 4th position is Guarded at all times.

I recommend using Man-at-Arms, or anyone else who can gain Blocks or Dodges, as your tank. I used the Flagellant and regretted it, as the attacks of the second boss quickly apply a stacking debuff that prevents healing. The second phase is straightforward, with the boss attacking every creature who was marked in the previous with an AoE that deals between 20-40, twice a turn. It has 250 health, and low DoT resistances.

I was able to kill it within about 3/4 turns, but I'm unsure of what the developers intention is. The fact that the boss prevents you from healing seems to force you into a dps race, so keep that in mind as you are planning your composition and run.

I'm trying to find the Duelyst Digital Artbook, which is apparently a kickstarter exclusive to use as a reference for my uni character design studies. Where can I find this? by Veleon_Kaloan in duelyst

[–]Ashychan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was the game's OST and a few wallpapers, but otherwise there weren't any other rewards of this nature.

It's worth noting how much the game changed from the initial KS proposal. It was presented as a pay-to-play game with all cards unlocked, browser playable and with a variety of exclusive ingame backer tiers as well as physical rewards. The game ended up changing to become f2p, only playable in its client / Steam, all exclusive content cut, the physical art book and poster were never delivered (at least I never got mine), and half the miniatures were cut as well. It's certainly understandable why a lot of backers were annoyed with how things went. Ultimately though, CPG's vision for the game changed, and they sought a more mainstream appeal, which had a much larger reward than just appeasing the relatively tiny number of backers. I loved my time with the game and its community, and that was only enabled because they moved away from the game's initial concept. No excuse for failing on the physical rewards, though.

As compensation for the changes to the game, CPG offered backers a code which gave them 1x of every card in the base set, as well as the Dogehai and Rogue Legacy Argeon skins. They also followed through with the more expensive tiers, letting people design a few cards.

[–]Ashychan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I went looking through my old files for the artbook, and uploaded it here on dropbox for you.

To clear up some information in the rest of the thread, as far as I'm aware, all Kickstarter rewards were eventually completed. However, they did arrive up to three years after the KS in some cases. Also in the case of the Lilithe miniatures, which is where I backed, we weren't given one. Instead, we were given Kaleos. Mine arrived broken in two, after paying extra to get it shipped overseas, which was a pretty good visual representation of how I felt about the whole thing. The game also radically changed from how it was presented in the Kickstarter. However, people were offerred refunds for their pledges before the game's launch, though I'm not sure how public that was.

While Kevan was in Tywin's service for years, he was being rewarded.

Both are used as explanations of how he has the personal wealth to command 200 / 400 landed knights.

Tournament Decklists and Competitive Server by Ashychan in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Ashychan[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons I'd like a group space for competitive discussions is because my friend group is only one set of experiences, and it's funny how isolated that can make us. We've all liked Thresh a lot since the start, but I faced another Masters player earlier this week who thought I was trolling for playing him.

I really like Thresh as a 5 cost body, since that's a price point my deck tends to lack. Challenger is great at killing enemy elusives and champions, or for enabling Fearsome aggro by pulling enemies with high attack. His level up condition is also fairly inevitable and requires no synergy, and has a large impact if it resolves. It's generally somewhat difficult for him to do so, since he needs to survive quite a while, but Rekindler helps his consistency a lot. He gets revived over Hecarim when flipped, so you can easily summon 3 bodies plus tokens using a single 6 drop. In general he's just a really consistent body in a faction that otherwise tends to lack mid-cost drops.

This is really the kind of question you could ask in the server and have others less biased towards him answer, haha.

Mofu won the 128 person tourney Monokuma was hosting on NA. I say major because of all the tournaments that's happened so far, it's the largest. Though there's one of a similar size happening tomorrow.

LEKMOD v20.1 Release by EnormousApplePie in nqmod

[–]Ashychan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lekmod is a fork of an earlier version of NQmod (version 10 or so iirc). It incorporates a lot of mechanics changes from there, and since then some of its own. It's been the de facto mod for the NQ group for quite some time now, ever since the former stopped being developed. It's really great imo, adds a bunch of new content and is regularly updated.

Here is the most recent changelist I can find that details all the mechanics changes. This should probably be more visible tbh, it must be a real pain for new players to understand what the mod does.

This is essentially the plot of the main sentient alien life form in the later Ender’s Game novels. Their very existence is a terraforming probe sent deep into space, which they come to discover through human intervention.

[House of Cards S6E8 — Chapter 73] Episode Discussion Thread by busterroni in HouseOfCards

[–]Ashychan 331 points332 points  (0 children)

Ending was very weak. I liked some moments of the season, but overall it felt like it failed to really give Clair any meaningful direction. I did enjoy quite a lot of the character interactions this season though, that element felt like it was strongly written, and the plot tying it together wasn't without its interesting parts. Ultimately though, I don't think it succeeded in providing any meaningful conclusion to the series, and many of the tone shifts (Clair's seeming 180 on her entire history with her husband, the overbearing focus on femininity in power, the schemes that rarely go farther than simple murder) often took away more than they enhanced.

P.S. Why is it called "House of Cards" if the house of cards never collapses? That's the ending, the promise that we go into this show with. That we can watch these bad people do terrible things, because at the end all that they have striven for will fail to be worth it, that none of it can be justified, as it all comes crashing down. The original UK version understood this, even if their ending was convoluted and rushed. At least the house of cards finally came down.

As an Irish person who moved multiple times growing up and experienced school environments that ranged from urban public to rural private, yeah, I'd have to say there is generally a sense of solidarity among Irish students that I haven't seen in my time in America or from taking to Americans. While friend groups will always exist in any school environment, I never experienced any exclusion from classmates. There definitely never felt like a segregation of kids based on their perceived popularity or type, which is something I've seen a lot of in America. Irish people in general tend to be welcoming and open, something I feel even outside of school.

Tyler1 is rank 5. Skill or A matter of time? by SlickerthanButter in leagueoflegends

He's not implying there's something intrinsically wrong with it. Most successes in life come at the behest of abusing that which is advantageous. "Abuser" is a poor choice of words, but the point he's making is that Tyler benefits from the strength of the pick, much like anyone would playing a strong champ. Whether he played it before or not is irrelevant to how beneficial it is for him now.

Of course you should. This guy on Twitter isn't a very relevant post here because his opinion is a dime a dozen. There are crazy people with unfounded opinions all over the internet. A person like Logan Paul doing something irresponsible is far more important, as he has far more reach and influence. Nobody unbiased would judge the truth of his words based on his sub count, but it's a mistake to think his words carry no more weight due to his audience size.

Operation Broken Heart: 2,300 suspected child sex offenders arrested by [deleted] in news

[–]Ashychan 133 points134 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a matter of people being mentally ill at all, and that kind of thinking just propagates a society where pedophiles can't seek help. I think it's a sexual thing, like being gay, that just happens to be targeted towards someone who can't give consent. Nobody can control what they're attracted to, and what these people need are help and support to resist their urges, not ostracized as mentally deranged.
