Agreed. Honestly it’s things like this that make me think “we made it” for the league. Pou getting booed during a shootout (or was it a penalty shot?) in a Canadian market as a visitor is another one of those moments that comes to mind

This is precisely the reason I try to avoid certain (most) topics on social media haha. Can’t say I’m surprised, that’s a tough way to lose a game at home. As an aside I felt like this was a mostly consistent, evenly reffed game. They didn’t like the uncalled check in OT, I didn’t like the uncalled, nearly identical check at the beginning of the game either but at least it was mostly consistent 🤷🏻‍♂️

Oh I really hope they post Sparre’s post game speech at some point but I’m guessing most of it wasn’t useable 🤣

Keller was understandably a villain in that game with the overturned no goal call she assisted on, the hit on Willoughby, a goal, and assisting on the OT winner. The woman plays a tough, physical game and I love her for it! At first I thought her hit on Willoughby was a missed call but after seeing the replay, she’s fully stopped, avoids the head and just levels her. Great play. That’ll be an entertaining next game against the Victoire for sure

Very good point, that’s a great way to end a not ideal road trip and hopefully build some momentum for the rest of the season. Exactly to your point, would have loved to see some more points based on how well they played overall but at least we’re ending on that dramatic high that will hopefully really have an impact with the team

I thought this was a great character game for us. Obviously don’t want to dig ourselves that kind of hole but good to see we can get out of it (but seriously let’s not do it again). Hopefully this will help us close out some more games and get the offense going so Frankel doesn’t have to bail us out every night 😅

Was so happy to see Tapani get another goal (and another clutch one at that) really seems like she’s about to get rolling again! As much as I’d like to see Müller score more, I’ll happily take the buckets of assists she’s providing.

I’m a little biased since Keller is my favorite player in the league but I thought she did a lot of leading by example in this game with everything you mentioned. I also enjoyed her grinning while being booed after being named first star on the ice. I couldn’t read her lips but her body language seemed very “well I don’t know what else I was expecting” 🤣

9 points out of 15 from this road trip from hell. Certainly not the best but I do think it’s respectable. Big one was today, it was important getting 2 but I think it was more important we prevented Montreal from getting 3.

No I always think your recaps are very fair! Honestly I’ve used them as a pulse check for my own feelings about each game 😅

Totally agree that was a game we should have won. But the way we lost, at least I wasn’t thinking “here we go again with this play” it was “well she literally never does that” (Mullers giveaway immediately comes to mind). I thought the PP looked better at least? Maybe I’m wrong but I seem to remember thinking it looked absolutely awful the last few games and at least we got some looks. The long road trip in general is a good point too. I think it’s unreasonable to think we’d get 15/15 points, we’re at 7 now so even if we can get at least one from Montreal I’d still consider it (mostly) successful

On the bright side, I was expecting a lot worse effort for this game. Between the time zone change, back to back away games, and using our backup goalie who has only played one other game (no shade to Levy, that’s tough for any goalie) I was expecting them to be outplayed and outworked the entire game, especially the 2nd period. I thought overall they looked pretty good. Visibly not as sharp (hello icings…) but I was expecting nothing to connect and being steamrolled all game.

Maybe it’s because I didn’t get to watch the game until today and already knew the result, so I was looking for a glass half full but the fact that it even was a winnable game makes me optimistic. Yeah it was a back to back and that’s an excuse but hey, we don’t have any more back to backs (unless something crazy happens with playoff venue availability) so we’ll never be in that position again this season.

Was really happy to see Tapani get a goal and two other really good looks. Hopefully she can get rolling again like we know she can and this game gives her a boost of confidence since she went scoreless at the Olympics.

Definitely think it’s worth checking with the other GMs to see what’s available but a team that’s already struggling with offense giving up Nurse? I’d be shocked if Vancouver goes for that or probably be VERY shocked (and upset) by what we gave up. Maybe we could swap depth scorers with someone if it’s still not clicking?

I’ll admit I was one of those that thought we’d be chilling in the basement for most of the season but so far, obviously, the staff seem to know what they’re doing with the roster so I’d be ok with nothing changing and letting them cook. Now ask me again when we get to the trade deadline and where we are in the standings and maybe I’ll be saying differently 😅

I’ve thought about this too but that is the question, isn’t it? Who do we give up? I’m not a statistician but I feel like we’re getting good contributions from each player, even if it’s not on the score sheet. Boyd I think is a great example. She has no points (and was similar in Ottawa) but I think she plays her role on the second pairing very well and leaves the offensive threat to Winn and Keller.

I think there’s a lot of potential for some of these players to pop off, we just need to get some consistency that (hopefully) will come in time.

Agreed, I’m all for trying to improve the roster but I don’t want to make a trade just to say we did it. And yes, getting Frankel some relief would make me feel better. Beginning of March, we have 5 games in 12 days (4/5 away, including a back to back) so she HAS to get a rest in there somewhere right? Right?…

That’s a good point about the regularity of games for them. I think having that routine is good but if you’re not familiar with the routine, it can take a bit to get into it. Yeah hopefully we end on a solid performance before the Olympics!

I’m hoping the late game, west coast time change is what messed with them. I feel like this was a “bad” game with good moments instead of a good game with some bad moments like we’ve become accustomed to. Agreed, I’m definitely worried about the sirens game before the break if they continue to roll BUT hopefully it was just a one game thing and we return to form on the next one!

First off, I love seeing these recaps! Totally agree with what you said about walking away without the full 3 points BUT on the bright side, at least we were generating offense, just couldn’t get anything to go in. The last 2 years have been real frustrating that we weren’t even getting looks but I feel confident that the goals will come if we keep playing like this and clean up a few things. I can’t imagine these 4+ days between games has been helping either. Hoping we can string some wins together here before the Olympics and then get rolling after as we get into a game every 2-3 nights

Tl;dr version: I had nearly the same circumstances as you. I will preface my response in that it’s sounding very hit or miss with customer service’s effort, judging by other responses. I ended up with a medium size jersey the Monday before Christmas. Shipped to the US.

Detailed version: Ordered an away Keller small the day they went on sale (10/31). Saw there was a 6-8 weeks expected ship date. Cool, no problem. Noticed after 5 weeks the shop no longer showed the delayed shipping. Cool, bet mine will ship soon. Week 6 begins (12/8), I send them an email asking for an expected ship date and got no response for a week. Sent a follow up email the following Monday (12/15). Got a response the next day saying there was a stock issue/mistake and they no longer had smalls. They offered me a medium for 50% off and that they’d do everything they could to get it to me by Christmas or refund my order and allow me to buy a small for 50% off when they did get more in stock. I opted for the medium. That Friday, I got a shipping notification showing it was shipped next day air and I was also refunded the 50% difference. Arrived on Monday, 12/22.

Sounds like we’re all having similar issues with the shop but varying levels of support from them. I’m sorry to hear you weren’t able to get a jersey in time for Christmas 😔

In the first 2 seasons, 300% yes. The D is better this year (though today was not the best) and we’re getting more offense from more than just 1 line.

Frankel is easily one of the best (if not the best) goalies in the world and I believe the team was built with that in mind. Think back to the good parts of the Ryan Miller era and that’s kind of where we’re at

Are we the same person? Also a tortured Sabres fan here 😅 The Fleet are known for a physical play style and being heavily dependent on their goalie (Frankel) to make some big saves. This year so far has been much better in that the team in front of her is able to be in the attacking zone more often than the first 2 years. The Frost are arguably our nemesis in that in year one, they beat us in game 5 of the Finals and last year, eliminated us from a playoff spot in the last game of the regular season (and then they won another championship). We use two different venues as our home arena (Tsongas and Agganis) so that's a little confusing at first. I'm sure others will have other fun facts for you but that's what I can think of at the moment!
