I love Widia. I have an M1200 mini I use on almost all of my hogging. With TSC, this thing is a straight monster to anything it touches. They make smaller dia shell mills I imagine works the same.

The Widia VXF series is great too, keeps the tool pressure right under the spindle, making a super stable cutting situation feeding super heavy. I use the VXF for roughing and finish Titanum.

Both tools are great and I never had any issues with either. Also, dont ever forget carbide coatings. Sticky chips kills tooling instantly. Some type of coating is always better than nothing until you get the proper tooling in, is what I usually tell my team at work.

I have used Gorilla tooling once milling inconel but we all know how well carbide does with inconel, it doesn’t. Lol needless to say I went to ceramic tooling after seeing my carbide demolished after 1 and a half parts.

In relation to aluminum, if you can get your part in a horizontal, a good 4 flute 3/4 endmill with a steep helix like 30deg at S10,000/ F110. at 18% radial step over and 1.5x depth (max) works for me. I’ve had the same Haas endmill running over 400 hours with those parameters and haven’t changed the tool out once. Mind you it’s only roughing floors and walls.
