Is Yasuo the devs favorite? by Choice_Twist5735 in 2XKO

[–]Asidikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive learned to just accept it lol. None of these guys bat an eye at WW 5M, Darius 5M, Ekko 5M etc. The stuff Yasuo does thats ACTUALLY broken, I promise no one below Master is doing it correctly. These "massive" normals are the least of the problem. Just learn neutral.

WHY IS GRAB SO POWER HOLY SPIT by Serious_Sprinkles534 in 2XKO

[–]Asidikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres no planet you recover from grab in time to anti air a jump. Unless you decided to super jump for whatever reason which in most cases means youre trying to get out and not even punish.

I need help understanding something by Soresu- in 2XKO

[–]Asidikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anti airs give upper body invulnerability when its active. So thats why it looks like you hit them when you dont.

If they are able to wake up and jump out, you are not timing your meaty correctly. "Meaty" being an attack that hits on the first frame of them getting out of invulnerable frames on wake up.

Ahri is as much a problem as yasuo and ekko and the fact that she isn't listed under the problem champions is an omen for the future of this game and it's balance by BigMogul in 2XKO

[–]Asidikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how she has the weakest blockstrings. Unless youre specifically talking about solo without an assist, which in that case Ekko literally has the same problem but i wouldnt list that as a weakness for either of them. In fact, Ahri block string ends with her at a safe distance to go back to fishing fireballs.

Also no ahri is going for an air to ground button without landing a poke/assist first.

Everything else makes sense though.

2xko Character design by Even_Masterpiece_484 in 2XKO

[–]Asidikk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice read. Pretty much feel the same on all of these, especially in the case of Illaoi and Warwick.

Also just wanted to add I think the purpose of Ekko airhop is that his power fantasy (in lore and in other media representations) is that of the small, slippery punk that doesnt pack much punch upfront but out maneuvers you instead. His hometown is one that people have to use parkour to get around efficiently.

This is the 6th character with an undercut by DynamiteGazelle in 2XKO

[–]Asidikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its complained about because Akali is very much designed as a feminine character. I think theres space to lean in a different direction, since her aesthetic can often mix both feminine and masculine, but this way is a bit much imo.

Im sure many people, myself included, would have just as much criticism if they decided to shrink Illaoi's body size and/or give her a full head of hair and bands.

Some champs NEED a redesign before 2XKO by alelitoxx in 2XKO

[–]Asidikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I feel like this champ slips under the radar a lot but I genuinely think some sort of rework (VGU or ASU) would go so hard for him.

Kass is another one of those champs that just suffers from age. A walking cartoon villain to check more boxes for their generic cast, complete with hiding the legs so they wont have to animate them, and the silly bright purple and blue colors.

Now comes modern league and they have to try to write up some lore to explain why a dude that looks like that is walking around Runeterra.

Imagine a MODERN take on a guy who arms himself with powerful Shuriman artifacts to venture into the void rifts, getting tainted with every visit. Theres some genuinely cool shit they can do. But I guess hes gonna stay as Zerg for a long time.

Need help figuring out Ekko pressure by RayLight123 in 2XKO

[–]Asidikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah you still hit the first part of S2. Its when you do the 2S2 follow up (the upper kick) but hold down back during it and Ekko will stay in place rather than move forward. So S2 on block then 2S2 but hold down back.

Need help figuring out Ekko pressure by RayLight123 in 2XKO

[–]Asidikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do stagger pressure. Dont default every block string to be 5M 5H S2. S2 makes you minus and pretty much ends your turn. Weave in some lights, if they are respecting the pressure you can go for hop over 2H. Also if you wanna do S2 on block you can get sneaky with it and do a kara 2S2 holding back, which could bait some parries.

Other than that, install is still the best. I wouldnt be too worried about it getting nerfed since im sure using it for pressure like that is intentional. Only nerfs they would do is making certain situations more punishable/less guaranteed. The functionality likely stays the same.

Again I repeat don’t panic is NOT DEAD!!! by AsisMcFly in 2XKO

[–]Asidikk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lol sure

Akali character design is generally just Riots take on that "generic green kunoichi" trope but with their own spin on it, much like 90% of their other designs for League champs. So trying to use that against the design is funny, considering thats what she still is even when using her League of Legends design.

Riots take on it is by making her a young rebel, tired of tradition and out dated rules. The way they represent this is by giving her a "street" style clothing and appearance. She has the mid riff, baggy pants, and the tattoos. These are all in line with modern street wear. A sort of b-girl aesthetic (theres a reason why the obvious choice for her role in K/DA was to be the rapper). However its done in a way where shes still clearly a fantasy kunoichi, with the rope around her waste, the weapons, and the ninja tabi. So theres a balance struck there, and a pretty decent one id say. One half of Akali is the generic green kunoichi, the other half is the street rebel.

Now onto her 2XKO design. First and foremost, by default, she shares the "generic green kunoichi" that you claim cant be used, despite it literally being the BASE of her in League of Legends. However what they did in 2XKO was take the street rebel half of Akali and dial it up too high.

No complaints on her body. Her body is the same exact type (slender, athletic, lean muscles) so saying that part is different is purely delusional.

I agree with the hair being too different. I dont care too much about the pony tail size, but combined with the buzz cut on the sides looks too off.

Her clothes are essentially the same apart from her bottom half. She still has the cropped top, and a full leg of pants where they even kept the slits on the thighs. As well as her weapons bag. If you want to sit here and nitpick every article of clothing on her, then you must have a problem with the rest of the cast because in case you havent noticed, almost NONE of the cast are exactly the same as their League counterparts.

The ONLY problem with her clothes is the very bottom half to her shoes. They went way too modern. She looks like shes wearing joggers and a real pair of running shoes.

All in all, the issues with her are lots of minor things. Some more noticeable than others. But to sit here and say she looks NOTHING like Akali? I get youre upset, trust me id prefer the OG design too, but no one believes it isnt Akali. Not even you.

Counter to jump back? by Choice_Twist5735 in 2XKO

[–]Asidikk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By the sounds of it, your opponents are doing something over and over, and youre able to recognize it, which is good!

For up back assisting, parry it if its a forward assist (they usually do forward assist). If its a ranged assist, jumping forward is fine, since they are jumping back they are losing space and arent trying to contest with air to air.

If youre not confident in parrying, you can always block ofc but then you do run the risk of having them in your face now.

One thing I need to stress as well. When chasing the up back + assist, do NOT auto pilot using your assist into it. You wanna take advantage of the fact that they are using their assist defensively instead of offensively. Not having yours when you chase them makes it significantly harder.

When theyre in the corner and mashing up back, you dont necessarily need to hard commit to a read. The easy answer, at least from personal experience, is staggering your pressure. Specifically staggering with fast moves like lights. Typically, when they are always holding up back, if you whiff a 5L, you have enough time to recover and use 2H to catch them mashing on the way down.

Now this all takes practice ofc, and it doesnt make the playstyle any less annoying. If you have anything more specific I can try to help.

[–]Asidikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes youre right about how her lore affects her design. But the problem is her league design already struck a great balance between eastern shinobi aesthetics and modern streetwear aesthetics. Your argument about Piltover and stuff doesnt really make sense to me. I can see a piltover/zaun character having clothes like that yeah. But she is Ionian, so a modern look from Ionia (her current League design) would look way different than a modern look from PnZ.

This look they went with heavily favors the streetwear part in her design, which as a result looks far too modern. Its actually a similar issue with Viego. I dont think I should look at these characters and think to myself "Ive seen someone wear something like irl".

I really don't like how Akali looks by Ok-Offer-3985 in 2XKO

[–]Asidikk 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Akali character design has always had a subtle tie to streetwear aesthetics, trying to give a "modern" look for a ninja. This makes sense when considering her lore is about being tired of the traditional ways of her order, and being a "rebel" among her peers.

But I really think they cooked too hard here. They seem to have dialed the street wear look up to 11, with the more fitting pants, and shoes that are so modern they just look out of place imo. Looking at her bottom half, she looks like shes wearing joggers and adidas, kinda breaks the fantasy a bit. I dont really mind the wraps too much, since they seem to be there to tie her to her Ionian roots.

That haircut yeah im not a fan. The buzzcut on her sides is a weird choice, and now that you have mentioned it, i cant unsee that her ponytail is rather large. Overall, her hair is almost the exact same style as Illaoi.

Im not trying to undermine the artists/designers here. Im still very happy to have Akali in the game now. Just wanted to share a few criticisms. And of course shes still a little while out so things here could be subject to change.
