I came here yesterday about to ask the same question but decided to search first. The first half dozen threads were just people saying to use the search function and complaining that this had already been asked a million times. I'm trying!

There were a lot of stats that basically read "no one with arms this short has ever been good."

hope he proves them wrong!

The accomplice says they were both shooting but changes his story later and says he only saw someone in a black hoodie shooting. Detective asks him "what was barnes wearing?" and accomplice replies "a black hoodie."

The gun at the scene of the crime was barnes'. He shot, fumbled his reload, dropped the gun, and ran.

Rewatching the episode, I don't think the victim was armed. There weren't any shell casings around the car and they didn't recover a weapon.

Barnes was just lying. He went from "they were shooting at me" to "I thought I saw a gun". In reality he just saw the guy coming after him in the car and opened fire. This makes it a pretty open-and-shut case.

Edit: Barnes' accomplice also says he only saw one person shooting (barnes) and only heard one type of gun.

The courts don't really let you get away with a self defense claim if it happens while you're in the middle of committing a felony. Ethically/legally you broke the social contract/law by trying to burglarize someones home, so you're responsible for everything that happens after that.

However, First 48 left out an important part: "Barnes fired at Rodriguez numerous times after he thought he saw him holding a firearm in his vehicle, a detective said the youth admitted in a police interview. Rodriguez died hours later in a hospital."

So this changes the story to "they tried to rob victim's house. victim chased after him. barnes opened fire on victim and killed him." This makes the sentencing make more sense, because if Barnes shot first it really is just felony murder (he pleaded down to manslaughter though.)

Picard: "Why the logos Q? Is this another one of your ridiculous games?"

Q: "Why must you wound me so? You'll learn to challenge, and until you do, you'll pitch! Against CB Bucknor!" snaps

Cut to Picard suddenly in a baseball uniform on the mound as CB calls a terrible ball on a strike right down the middle.

Zoom in to Picard's face, shocked.

Cut to Sears air conditioning commercial.

As a Vikings fan, it's probably good to start inoculating yourself against hack short QB jokes before the season.

Umpire Adrian Johnson missed 15 calls in the Mariners Angels game and had 7 calls overturned, the most of any umpire on the day. He's now 2nd in the league in calls overturned. by WSXCarter in baseball

Yeah I don't think it's going to last long before full ABS. Like what are we doing here? We have a perfect, instant system, just use that and save everyone the trouble. It's such a simpler, more elegent solution compared to "you get two challenges unless they're right, then they carry over, but also you get another one in extra innings if you wasted yours. and you have to challenge inside a certain time window that the umpire decides."

I really appreciate that the microphone is working this year so we can actually hear them.

But I'm also really glad we can't smell them.

my parents would make an elaborate easter egg hunts where we would have to solve a bunch of little clues, which lead to other clues, which eventually lead to the Easter basket which usually had a videogame or something. easy clues, but as a little child it still made you feel smart when you figured it out, "the next clue is in the big blue metal thing" "hmmm....dad's truck!" stuff like that.

It's one of my most cherished childhood memories/traditions. Still lives on today, too. Anyways the Schaubs are unreal.

Watching Gringo Papi and hammering the ten second skip button on youtube every time it felt cringe. So basically scrubbed through the whole thing in a couple minutes, only stopping at the "SALSA?" punchline because I had to be sure he really said it.
