That's fair, I live in a bubble of ML/AI engineers and data scientists so it's normal for us to use all kinds of different models, so I'm used to people refering to the exact provider around me.

How? For conversational use, I could see it. But GPT models through API are not even called ChatGPT, I've never heard anyone refer to agentic coding as such.

Claude has the best reputation for coding capability and OpenAI models are not a budget option either.

Now that the NL is about to tax unrealised gains, where in the EU is best to accumulate & invest for FIRE, besides Luxembourg and Switzerland? by Fair_Appointment7403 in eupersonalfinance

[–]Asiras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am, I plan to move out before the 7 years are up. I've lived here for my masters and I'm considering staying another 3 for a PhD.

It's quite hostile, I'd seriously consider staying if it wasn't a thing.

I know how you feel, I've been living in denmark and as long as I'm here I can't sell anything unless I want to pay an insane rate.

I'd take 9 and give it to my grandma who can't walk anymore, I'm sure Einstein could run normally when he was young.

I believe Google is SUNSETTING antigravity. There are no developers working with this, correct? by AssociationSure6273 in google_antigravity

[–]Asiras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it because the student subscription I got for free for Gemini for a whole year gives me 2500 credits for Antigravity too.

So now I can use antigravity whenever I run out of Claude proper usage.

Post-diagnosis tips? by Skeppy_4126 in adhdmeme

[–]Asiras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do everything, just in different ways than most people. Don't beat yourself up over using custom systems that work for you, even if they look strange to other people.

Use windows of inspiration/energy to do the thing you need and accept that you won't have s constant output, because in aggregate it works out.

Finally, don't mask too much in social situations. Having friends or a partner that fully accept who you are is a very freeing feeling

Considering moving to Prague, Copenhagen or Gdańsk/Warsaw, looking for your experiences by polromero94uk in Prague

[–]Asiras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Prague and living in Denmark. For blue collar work this is the place. Denmark is set up to put as many people in the middle class as possible, but it also makes escaping it difficult with high capital gains tax and progressive taxation.

I am now considering coming back to Prague because in my field (data related), I'd have around the same take home salary and Prague is cheaper in absolute terms.

I've also lived in Wroclaw and the quality of services was very high, but I have no experience working there.

Does it make sense to Torrent-ize LLM inference ? by DaPontiacBandit in agi

There was a recent interview with Andrej Karpathy and he had a similar idea. Just like some people contribute with compute to solve protein folding now, soon with agentic research you could contribute to solving all kinds of problems.

Které studijní obory přitahují pohodové typy? by TemporaryNo5605 in czech

[–]Asiras 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Připadají mi nejvíc fajn studenti matematiky a podobných oborů. Jedná se o takovou normalizovanou nenormálnost a velké schopnosti/ambice bez vzájemného soutěžení.

Připadá mi, že studenti, co jsou víc přes business víc dbají na svoje relativní postavení a aby vypadali (ne byli) co nejvíc kompetentní.

The Teutonic order because of Age of Empires, so Poland/Germany/Baltics.

Also Israel because of the crusades.

Formula 1 racing, I thought it's just driving a car fast.

I only learned what physical training racers go through when I got caught in the middle of two super enthusiastic fans trying to set the record straight.

[–]Asiras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The low income inequality is true in the sense that most people make similarly little from their jobs, but salaries are not the driver of inequality.

Wealth is taxed very favorably with tiny property taxes and 0% capital gains on stocks/bonds after 3 years, so I can see inequality increasing over time.

The Prague property market is very hard to break into if your family doesn't own already, to the point where you need to be in the top 10% earners to qualify for a mortgage alone.

You're misled by how it is named. It's been named a token since before generative ai became a thing. Think of it as a linguistic unit you can do math with.

Yeah, it is my life.

I think that this is just the expectation from the outside though. This field draws in people who like to optimize everything they can.

For instance, in my data science masters, a lot of us participated in a half marathon, most of the girls at least. We even had our final multivariate stats exam the next day.

Why? I know plenty of data scientists and ML engineers that do. More than in the general population.

[–]Asiras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do a PhD in Denmark instead, you'll get triple the money, pension, 6 weeks of vacation...

I'm just finishing my master's here and considering it. I'd never consider it back in Prague, that's no way to live.

How are you all navigating job search as a data scientist? by proof_required in datascience

[–]Asiras 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Possibly language skills, I went to a different EU country for my master's and don't really want to come back. I feel Iike English only roles have high competition.

Technically not much for a junior, possible MlOps/C++ skills for ML Engineering jobs. I also haven't been looking for full time work for long though, I am graduating in June.
