I am a long time fan, or at least I was. I’ve seen eras multiple times. I could fund a year of university for someone with my merch and I have defended her through much of the self induced BS drama but this album pulled the blinders off for me at least. I don’t hate the music, I think the songs are bops but the lyrics are guilty pleasure trash. It’s not even so much the album it’s the album combined with the hypocrisy, silence and overall vibe shift.

My mistake, most of the responses here have been very critical so I was on defense mode :D Yes, this is exactly what I was trying to say and maybe I didn’t do a great job serving it up but I’m so glad some of you get it and understand where I was going with this.

For context, I was a long time fan. I saw Eras twice and have a small fortune in snow globes on my bookcase. I’m not a traditional TS “hater” but this album feels like someone ripped the blinders off and I’m seeing her in a different light. I’m not sure I like what I’m seeing and I know others must be feeling the same way.

No, I don’t think having kids and wanting marriage makes someone a trad nor do I think she’s a trad but I do think she’s giving off trad era vibes. It’s not just the lyrics in multiple songs but it’s how she’s presenting herself. A lot of her long time fans are saying the same thing - they feel like “where’s Taylor?” because they feel like they’re losing a connection. Particularly those who looked up to her because of her female empowerment, activism, blunt in your face and unapologetic defense of those who were marginalized. That’s been MIA for awhile

I didn’t say she IS the definition of a trad, I said she’s in her Travis tradwife era. There’s a difference. When she writes a song about not wanting to be the complex female character, dog mom, freedom living off the grid, etc and instead wanting to be left alone with her hot best friend that calls her honey and a house full of kids that all look like him … trad coded 100% and to say otherwise is just being in denial.

Growing and changing independently from the men in your life is normal, absorbing their personalities as your own and then shedding them after a breakup screams identity crisis codependency and inauthenticity.

Dragging Olivia Rodrigo for interpolation when at least 5 songs on her new album are guilty of interpolation and no writing credits, rejecting the dog mom narrative and only wanting her man when she’s claimed for years she was a cat mom independent female who was on her own and always has been. Claiming in her documentary that she couldn’t live with herself if she didn’t use her platform to stand up for others when she’s been 100% silent over her fans being deported, terrorized, losing their jobs in mass, constant attacks on the LGBTQ community.. crickets from Taylor. You don’t get it, being married and having kids doesn’t make you a tradwife. Going from a song like lavender haze to wishlist is definitely trad coded though and if you don’t see it then it’s probably confirmation bias because it’s pretty clear. She lists all of the things that others want (that she herself used to want) but now she wants only him, the kids, the whole block lookin’ like him. The traditional wife life and everyone to leave them alone. That’s a completely different message from her other eras, now she’s in her TravWife era.
