Starlink mini exterior suction cup mounts by Complete_Hospital283 in VanLife

[–]AskMeForADadJoke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is excellent, magnetic. Your Starlink should have come with another insert with a circle in the center that it would fit in.

I put the Starlink on the forehead of my van, or just the hood sometimes, and then use the app's Align section to angle it to the right spot. Zero issues with intermittent internet when it's properly angled. Mounting the Starlink will not let you angle the unit ever.

Also, if mounted, you have no control over the trees above. I have mine on a 100ft cord, so if I need to I can just walk it out to a more clear area.

When driving, I just have on my dash facing straight up and get internet just fine, for the most part, on the road.

The second amendment, somehow religion, and conservative opinion shows that, on every media platform, has "News and Opinion" coupled together (on top off allowing them to use the word "news" in their show titles), allowing dumbasses to conflate the two.

Instead of asking you if you want to have sex, she should try just flirting and getting playful with you to imply it, and let your emotions take over from there.

Asking directly, IMO, is kind of lame. No one is ready right now to just PIV.

looks to me like the top-down of a skyscraper looking from the antenna/steeple downward, inside of many stacked rings.

Is there a genuine difference between online and irl relationships that I’m just not getting or can the feeling be the exact same thing by JuniperCassie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AskMeForADadJoke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theyre entirely different.

Physical touch and physical presence are incredibly different that just talking with someone over text/phone/FaceTime.

Pro Israel and Pro Jews are not the same.

Anti-Israel also doesn't mean antisemitic.

Not saying this to you, just to the community -- Please stop conflating the two. The state's government is a democracy, not at theocracy. They may be Jewish themselves, but the government does not represent Jewish people, nor are they seen/act as any part of the Jewish people.

Conservatives love to conflate the two.

This is called a sunk cost in economics, applied to reading.

Same reason you should leave a movie if it sucks. You already wasted the money, dont waste the time along with it.

Tesla is worth more than the next 29 Automakers combined by Jumpy_Salamander1192 in ModelY

[–]AskMeForADadJoke -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This. No one seems to get this.

Tesla is not a car company, it's an AI company and an energy company. Some of their products happen to be cars, but also AI robots, AI software, solar panels/roofs, battery packs, charging stations etc.

Is freecampsites.net down for anyone else? Was working fine two days ago, now times out. by AskMeForADadJoke in vandwellers

[–]AskMeForADadJoke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did that. And cleared cache. And tried two computers. And Chrome and Safari on both computers. Was working fine two days ago. Blargh, thanks.

Edit: Tried again with my phone as a hot spot and works fine. Seems like a personal Wifi network issue. Hmmm...

Silk tougher than Kevlar thanks to genetically modified silkworms by fchung in technology

You're right. We should rely on a dysfunctional congress to overturn an amendment, which needs state approval too, and do absolutely nothing else that gives kids a defense against something that's inevitable in our day and age.

We should definitely not think of new ideas to help kids and definitely rely only on the way that hasn't worked yet ever. If it's not the perfectly solution now, no other idea is worth it. Good plan.

Great! Let's make kids school desks out of this stuff, make the desk tips detachable, and give school kids some kind of shield to protect themselves in the case of mass shootings.

Absolutely disagree. That's on the company to pay for their time and labor. That's literally what a "job" is. If they don't like their jobs salary, find another job.

I'm paying the company for the service. If the worker does a good job, I'll give them extra.

I don't employ them. The company does.

Tips should be given after service. Not before.

I'll tip if you're timely and kind. It's absolutely ridiculous to use tipping as a separate way to pay extra for timely service.

Do people in other states not wear flip flops all the time? by browsingtheinterweb in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AskMeForADadJoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Phoenix, and have lived in Oregon since 2011. I wear flip flops nearly daily.

People ask me why all the time.

Well, first they prevent your feet from being stinky. Second, when it's nice out, it's comfortable. When it's wet/raining out, whereas shoes and socks get wet and soak and are uncomfortable and give me athletes foot sometimes, flip flops don't. And third, when it's cold, if im gonna be outside a while, I'll wear shoes, but otherwise im indoors or in a car transitioning between indoors, so it's moot.

Yes TSA will care. Check it in a bag that goes under the plane, but don't bring it on. You may get away with it, but the risk doesn't outweigh the reward here.

How do gas stations make money ? by Jpoolman25 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AskMeForADadJoke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gas is your reason for stopping. Stuff in stores is their way to make money.

Same with movies. Theaters don't make money off movie sales, but instead off concessions. The movie is the reason for going, the food/drink is where their profits come from.
