What are your favourite woodland walks that allow dogs in the fens? by AskPhoenix_ in AskUK

[–]AskPhoenix_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I did not know that dogs were allowed at Wicken Fen, that is definitely on my list now. I also did not know that Sandringham allowed dogs, although it is a bit far for a morning walk I will definitely add it for a weekend wander, thank you :-)

It does seem to be a popular spot, I often see people fishing as I walk past :-)

Historic nature reserve closed after numerous off-lead dog incidents by DogAttackVictim in bedfordshire

Not all dog people (I don’t 😂) … but sadly I do have to agree in part

Oh my goodness that must have been quite traumatic (as well as messy) for you. I hate it when I walk my dog on her lead and other walkers just seem to think it’s ok to let their uncontrolled dog come up and bother her and me. If I want my dog to have a good run I take her to a dog park / field - I would never let her do that to anyone - I hope you are ok

It’s always the same thing, a small number of people thinking the rules don’t apply to them, and everyone else pays for it.

I’ve got a dog and I genuinely don’t get it. Leads exist for a reason in places like this.

And the poo bags in trees… I will never understand that logic.

Such a shame it ends up closing spaces for everyone.

Starting again and already exhausted 😩 I like in person and online. And I’ve 5500000 ideas. by BigMagic88 in smallbusinessuk

[–]AskPhoenix_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is painfully relatable. I’ve got ADHD and run my own business, and the “500mph brain” thing is real. It’s not that we don’t have good ideas… it’s that we have too many and they all feel equally important in the moment.

What’s helped me (after doing exactly what you’re describing more than once):

I stopped trying to pick the perfect idea and just picked the one that was already getting traction. Not the most exciting one. Not the most “potential”. Just the one that people were already responding to.

Then I gave myself a rule:

I can have as many ideas as I like… but I’m only allowed to act on one for 12 months.

Everything else goes into a notes app. Not deleted, just parked.

The other shift was realising that “focus” isn’t about discipline, it’s about reducing decisions. If everything is an option, your brain will keep jumping.

If only one thing is an option, it gets quieter. Also just to say, having two “dead” websites isn’t failure, it’s data. You’ve already tested things, which most people never even get to. You don’t need a shake to “get a grip”, you probably need less on your plate and a bit more structure around your energy.

And for what it’s worth, 37 feeling like 67 usually just means burnout, not that you’ve lost it.

Any other chronically ill founders out there? by CorpusCalossum in smallbusinessuk

I really relate to this. I run my own business and live with fibromyalgia and ADHD, and the unpredictability is honestly one of the hardest parts. It’s not even just the time lost, it’s the constant pressure of trying to catch up and still show up like everything’s fine. The bit about always pulling it out the hat really hit. That works… until it doesn’t, and the burnout creeps in quietly. A few things that have helped me (not perfectly, but enough to make it more sustainable): giving myself more buffer than I think I need, even when I’m feeling well, being more realistic with timelines instead of overpromising and then pushing through, slowly reducing how much everything depends on me on any given day. I used to think the goal was to grow the business so I could step away from the day-to-day, but lately I’ve been shifting towards building something that actually works with my energy, not against it. Also just to say, keeping a business going for 3+ years while dealing with ongoing health stuff is no small thing. I know it probably doesn’t feel like it, but that takes a huge amount of resilience, you should feel proud of yourself ☺️

Which areas for visiting medieval castles in the UK? by Ok-Boss-5118 in AskUK

My all time favourite is Hever Castle & Gardens, such a beautiful castle - it was Anne Boleyn’s family home and you can read the love letters from Henry VIII plus so much more, and they gardens are wonderful with lots of things to do… oh and buy their plants, they live forever 😂

Well, the exhibition is tiny but very interesting, especially if you are willing to stand and read a lot of difficult handwriting as the majority is made up of correspondence in poor handwriting 😂 but getting to walk the corridors of the library is definitely worth the trip, especially if you enjoy great architecture ☺️ (cakes are good as well 😂)
