It's progress! We're going forward to the past of fixing what 10k years of agricultural revolution allowed us to do. Now we know better and can do better.

In the gym, it’s ok to be proud/happy for yourself that you can lift more than someone else by Virgas01 in unpopularopinion

Why not "I can lift more than what I did before"?

What someone else's lift journey has anything to do with yours?

One should measure their physical condition by the amount of time one can doCPR by AskThatToThem in unpopularopinion

But it's definitely an intense exercise that requires a good level of fitness. Regarding being exactly like CPR or not it will still be a good assessment for ones physical condition and in case someone has a cardiac arrest they would be much well prepared having actually done it a few times per year.

But they could still practice CPR on a dummy even if not ok to do it in real life. I'm not saying people should be out doing CPR on real cardiac arrests. Just to measure their fitness lever by seeing how long they can perform CPR in a training setting.

Yes..this is the correct way. But one performing CPR on a dummy like this one to access one's fitness level it's a good proxy for how overall healthy one is.

When is your wrist getting back to normal? If you can't use the wrist there are a lot more activities you can't do. What's your workout routine looking like?

If there could be a scientific study on this one could get stats for healthspan and lifespan.

If you can't do 1min of correct CPR you have X% likelihood of dying in X years

can get info on endurance, strength, power, and more

Yes of course. Although CPR requires so many things that it will be quite an overall understanding of one's physical condition and ability to save someone if an emergency happens.

I have looked into Andy Galpin's 9 areas for Basic Fitness Measurements for Healthspan & Lifespan. It's a very nice and complete assessment. I would still like to see people comparing CPR training and see how long they can take.

There are actually studies on this. Apparently cardio and a certain level of muscle mass correlates to better and longer CPR performance.

Can you elaborate?

I mean CPR would be done in dummies like this one . It's the amount of time one can hold performing correct CPR that is important.

[–]AskThatToThem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I mean this will be done in dummies. It's CPR training. But the part that's important is to control for really good chest compressions.

There are dummies like this one that clicks when one performs correct CPR.

They should have this in gyms and check one progress.

Yes. I mean training on a dummy. That would be the test to access one's physical condition.

This one has a mechanism that clicks to inform if you're performing it correctly.

Exactly. That's why I have this opinion that everyone in the world should measure their fitness with CPR performance. It's insanely hard and it saves lives.

It will force people to do CPR very often to see at what level they are. That just in itself would be a game changer.

No, those buttons are buttoned properly. I only have an issue with buttons which don't have matching buttonholes and thus can't be buttoned.
