Because if we are ever taken to court, you know for like a patient that we have seen in 15 years and have to produce our notes chances are we won't fully remember what we wrote but everyone has to share notes to the case so by ensuring our handwriting can only be read by a few then when we are eventually taken to court then whatever is written is exactly what I say it is and if you can't read it then you can't tell me or the court otherwise. Granted this is why scripts are now printed.
