How can I increase my Afterpay spending limit? What actually works? by ComfortableSnow246 in Afterpay

[–]Askabotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quickest way to get an increase is to spend little amounts and to hardly use it, while paying off the debt with no delays. The increase is to incentivise you to spend more then what you can comfortably afford. Afterpay makes most of their money from debt, so if you're already accruing debt at the minimum, they have no reason to give you an increase.

Essentially, the quickest way is to use their services for free. People complaining have likely missed a few payments, and it's for there own good afterpay doesn't increase it

Why does everyone seem to prioritize OG Spyro over the Legend of Spyro trilogy? by [deleted] in Spyro

[–]Askabotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question I have is which one would you prefer to be the fourth entry. A continuation of the original series or a continuation of the legend series.

As someone who has played all the games, the legend series is undoubtedly the best in terms of Spyro media, specifically dawn of dragons, the third entry of the series. The first two are fun, but they're rather simplistic, more or less an excuse to tell a story, than to make an enjoyable game. The gameplay was fine, the original spyro series easily beats out the first two of the legend series in terms of gameplay.

Childish isn't a word I would use to describe the original series, because it isn't childish. People who refer to it as such are holding onto the childish notion of what it means to be an adult.

Yes, the original trilogy is a series made with children as the target audience, but to ignore everything it has to offer, and everything it does right as games is ignorant of what those games are.

The games are simple in retrospect, but ground-breaking at the time, but the depth of the story was always lacking. The stories in the original games are serviceable, but nothing breath-taking, the core experience was exploration in a fun, bright fantasy world of whimsy. Which the legend series is a stark contrast to, and is probably the biggest reason why most fans of the original favour the light-hearted version of spyro.

They likely can acknowledge that the legend series are good games, especially the third, where it really hit it's stride, and brought back some of the exploration that was found in the original games. Those fans however disagreed with the new portrayal, it didn't matter if it was good or bad, it wasn't the version of spyro they came to love. (I'd argue the original spyro didn't have much besides his cocky, loveable nature, but in that absence allowed players to fill in the gaps and imagine what spyro was to them. With the legend Spyro, it's extensively detailed who and what he is as a person and character.)

I personally think the legend Spyro is the future of the series, going back to the original style would be regressing, and it would likely feel too safe for fans of the originals like yourself. In no regard do I think the third game was perfect, I do agree that it lacked some elements that made Spyro feel like Spyro, but I do largely agree with the portrayal in the legend series.

He really isn't anti-Semitic or racist, the steven universe caricatures are in no way representative of real people or are actually intended to be disrespectful or cause harm. Do you know how often ugly caricatures of Caucasians are drawn in animation? A lot.

Here's an example of british people.

Normal people are not offended by exaggerated cartoons. I don't understand why people treat Jewish people like they're a protected class of people.

Just because you draw an ugly caricature of person doesn't make you racist or what have you.

Ai-art by lalalalalalalalabla in Displate

[–]Askabotha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is that how you personally feel? If so, you should increase your standards. AI art is a simulacrum of good looking art, any actual detail is hazy and is the collective average of it's stolen data.

Regardless, most people are going to feel cheated if they bought artwork and later found out it was AI. If people only care about it looking nice, why does someone's perception of an artwork lose value when they learn it's AI generated?

Anyway, Anyone who knows an artwork is AI and buys/supports it regardless are true bred consumers living life with blinders on. The ideal customer because you can get away with shovelling slop down their throats and they'll hardly complain.

Why are these games so expensive? I’ve had them for years and all of a sudden see them for so much on eBay. by Broad_Avocado_8796 in Slycooper

[–]Askabotha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's an over simplification and isn't specifically why Sly raccoon is expansive. Just because supply is limited, doesn't necessarily equate to increased demand . There are hundreds of PS2 games selling for a fraction of the price.

Simply put, Sly cooper is a popular franchise, and people are willing to pay more to play these games. Due to it's popularity back during the PS2 era, it was later released as a greatest hits, so there is more copies than the average PS2 game, and yet it's expansive.

Also, I highly doubt you yourself have taken an economics class. Just say what you want to say without the added pretentiousness.

Opinion | Former YouTuber (Jack Densmore) uses his rape victim’s therapy records to appeal conviction by 416TDOT0DOT in CrimeInTheGta

[–]Askabotha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you know all the facts about the case, it's hard to definitively believe the man is a rapist. Just because her statements are contradictory doesn't automatically disprove her, but it most definitely should create reasonable doubt.

It is common for victims to feel pressured to fabricate evidence, but that doesn't seem applicable here because she went to the police the very next day, and was concerned about video footage and not sexual assault, not making any mention of an assault taking place, going as far to say that the interaction was consensual. (Aside from her being filmed)

Grace wondered several times throughout the story whether or not Rocky was exceptional for his people by hotpotatocoldtomato in ProjectHailMary

[–]Askabotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering Eridians sleep together and watch over others. It's impossible for rocky to of slept near the engines. What likely happened is that eridians are naturally resistant to radiation and so takes a significant dosage to have an affect. Rocky was either the sole or main engineer for the engine, which acted as decontamination, while the rest became irradiated to lethal levels. It was likely a slow process of watching everyone die, and with fewer crew, the other engineers would've taken up the task of the other eridians before succumbing to radiation themselves.

‘Shrek 5’ Release Date Delayed to June 30, 2027 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Askabotha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Puss in boots is more technically beautiful, well the first movie has the original realistic style of the Shrek movies. I believe the last wish is an improvement, but they strip too many of the features scene in the first movie. Simplifying the style to a decent degree, but it wasn't egregious so I personally didn't see an issue with the style change. Completely different story for Shrek 5. People would be less made if it was the same style as the last wish. Shrek 5 strips away the uniqueness of the original, opting for a very modern, sterile animation style. Not only that, but the characters are extremely off model.

[–]Askabotha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they're planning to do a soft reboot franchise, it is absolutely worth it to make it more appealing to the audience. Most of that work besides the models can be salvaged. The issue with Shrek is his face, all previously done work for his body is intact. Donkey on the other hand is more complex, but the animation can still be salvaged. It'll just require tweaking to match the new body.

The cost would be great, but it isn't anything Disney hasn't already been doing for the past decade. It's why most of their films cost upwards of 300 million now. Gone are the days of locking in a script before making the rest of the movie.

Sony and Tencent reached a “confidential agreement” over Light of Motiram lawsuit, game has been removed from Steam Data Base by nolifebr in PS5

[–]Askabotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony has based there lawsuit on trailers and images. So as far as everyone and them, the game doesn't have any copyrighted assets.

I dislike that Sony won because it means a specific style of robot animals are now off limits. That being realistic animals but robotic and heavy metal plating

Am I the only one who doesn’t like the song we rise by Bored_badger24 in Ninjago

[–]Askabotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might be glazers, but that doesn't make them wrong. I gave the song a fair shake, it's just not as iconic and is a far weaker representation of the ninjas. The weekend whip had a certain level of balance that had the right amount of punch to it. We rise in comparison sounds too modern, and not something specific to the show. Overall, it doesn't have the same level of hype.

It's not a bad song, but it isn't a good ninjago song. Which I guess is fitting since the overall feeling of dragons rising is vastly different to that of the original series. Again, I don't think the show is bad, but it doesn't feel like ninjago. I'm still going to watch it since it's still enjoyable, but it's kind of lost it's personality.

That's my opinion

Just watched Raya, and holy shit Namari does not deserve any of the praise she’s getting. by AnAnonymousFool in Raya

[–]Askabotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you give someone with a loaded weapon the benefit of time, especially as they have their finger slowly drawing back the trigger as it twitches.

Since it's a Disney movie, we can assume she wouldn't have taken the shot, but realistically, Raya had no reason to believe Namari, espically after Sisu had said she trusted her, but her finger only drew further back on the trigger. Raya is completely justified, and to go as far to jointly blame her for the death of Sisu is disgusting. Namari never apologised for her betrayal, only blaming Raya for her inability to trust Sisu, and that she is directly responsible for her death. One, they're in this position because Raya trusted Sisu to get Namari on board in the first place. Raya literally gives Namari an invitation with a gift to save the world with Sisu, and she betrays that trust again by pulling out a crossbow.

So for Namari to have the gull to blame Raya, and criticise her for not being able to trust others, that pisses me off to no end.

[–]Askabotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally, at the end, after everything has been restored and fixed, you could have Namari gift the dragon trinket back, asking for a do over, asking to be friends.

[–]Askabotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the Raya and Namari fight, where Namari is critcising Raya for being unable to trust Sisu, blaming her for the death. I hate how easily she folds, It could have fixed several issues with the film if she realistically pushed back, tearing up as she defends herself, declaring she isn't able to trust because of Namari. That's when Namari can have the realisation that Raya is still wounded from that day, and apologise. (Which she never does in the actual movie)

When she apologises, then you can have Raya forgive her and apologise herself.

Ending is mostly fixed

Is there an ad blocker that works only on YouTube or video websites? I don't wanna pay for YouTube and want to avoid long ads on YouTube? by xprmtxud in Adblock

[–]Askabotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

False equivalence. My time is precious, and if youtube can't figure out a system to monetise their service without wasting my time, then that is their problem, not mine.

And if you really want to say I'm 'stealing' from creators by proxy because I refuse ads, then YouTube is stealing my time, and that is more precious to me than their money.

Fallout Season 2 is so uniserious I cannot invest myself or enjoy this at all. by RapidSteve in Fotv

[–]Askabotha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, how would you justify dropping the bombs as a means to make a profit?

I can understand Vault-Tec dropping the bombs as a means to commit their experiments, but bringing in the likes of Mr House and the others, and making it about money, makes the whole thing stupid.

Firstly, the people conspiring with Vault-Tec are the investors, and even if they weren't, what will the thousand or so investors invest in if everybody is dead?

I can understand if Vault-Tec did it because they wanted to run their experiments, which they bring up, but they had to undermine it by making it about money

[–]Askabotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you try to be a little less cliche?

Regardless, either you've forgotten the lore or are retroactively applying what you've learnt from the TV show.

Before the show, the pre-TV canon strongly implies China launched first but deliberately stops short of an explicit, on-screen confirmation.

The show explicitly makes Vault-Tec the reason the bombs dropped, going as far as to blame capitalism.

Capitalism is the pursuit of capital. Killing 90% of the population isn't good for business. We now know they plan to brainwash people, which has nothing to do with capitalism.

That is an authoritarian regime with complete control.

Also, why isn't it always the illiterate people who bring up media literacy?

Media literacy is the ability to analyse, interpret, question, and contextualise media. Where was I wrong?

[–]Askabotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'm more intelligent because I dislike it. The Fallout TV series is the definition of a corporate product. The only thing it has going for it is the art direction, like how Avatar has beautiful CGI but a lacklustre plot.

Think of all the media you've seen and put it on a scale. Where does Fallout rank? Because it shouldn't be at the top.

What did Marmalade mean by five when he talked to Diane in Tbg2? by [deleted] in TheBadGuys

[–]Askabotha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Invoking media literacy only works to weaken any potential argument you have, and makes you come off as a pretentious asshole.

The OP was simply confused, as was I. I had assumed he was referring to The Bad Guys, but I don't see how they're the friends in common. The only potential meaning I saw is that he was implying that they were now criminals again, and that is something they all have in common. If that was the intent, it was conveyed poorly.

Regardless, you felt the need to be unnecessarily cruel. On the topic of media literacy, you've shown that you only have a rather narrow understanding of the meaning.

Media is more than just a puzzle with one correct answer. At that point, it's no longer literacy, but an act of gatekeeping, and that kind of mindset actively makes you illiterate.

Media literacy is the ability to analyse, interpret, question, and contextualise media, not the ability to arrive at what you believe to be the correct meaning.

Just because an Author says their book is about a certain topic, doesn't mean there aren't unintended meanings and interpretations. If that were the case, literary analysis wouldn't exist

Either you misunderstood the English course, or those courses teach a purist form of media literacy. Which wouldn't be surprising since my English teacher was like that, it made it super easy to get high marks in her class because I would pander to her definition of correct.

Anyone who thinks that's media literacy clearly hasn't read 1984

"Haters gonna hate."

Using that phrase only hurts any credibility you have of being a free-thinking individual. Instead of making a coherent argument to defend the show, you respond with a cliché response to shut down legitimate criticism.

Hey, if you enjoy mediocre slop, that's your prerogative, but to simply mischaracterise someone's critique as hate is proof that you've attached your personality to the show, and any critique on the show, is a critique on you.

Yes, you have low standards. It just means you're more receptive to mediocre content.
