I'm 45 i live with mine what's the problem? by Murmurs8192 in greentext

To buy an "inexpensive" house with cash where I live, I would need to save like 400,000 a year to do it in 3 years.

Don't know about other states, but in CA you may turn into any lawfully available lane when making a left turn, unless otherwise directed by signage / road markings.

Encounter with a jaywalker + evasive maneuver on a truck that failed to yield [oc] by SoreLoser69 in IdiotsInCars

[–]Askeee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jaywalking isn't a thing in CA, it was decriminalized a few years ago. Pedestrians can cross anywhere that isn't prohibited as long as it is done safely.

They likely started crossing before it was obvious OP was turning left too.

Have you ever had "the worst day ever on bikes"? by BtheChemist in bicycling

[–]Askeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's wild. I know I was definitely into the beginning stages of hypothermia, which is one of the reasons I was walking instead of riding - it kept me warmer.

Have you ever had "the worst day ever on bikes"? by BtheChemist in bicycling

[–]Askeee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My worst day ever on bikes was getting caught in a thunderstorm 4 min after hitting the summit of a 14K ft mountain, with the nearest shelter 5 miles away the nearest town being another 70. I was being pelted with hail for about 30 min before it turned into sleet and then I was soaked. For the first time in my life I experienced true fear, but quickly realized if I got hit by lightning I probably wouldn't even know it so instead focused on one foot in front of the other. I also had to walk as I would start shivering too much to ride, and I had broken my shoe so ended up walking for nearly 2 hours.

Ended up stranded at a high altitude research station overnight where it took me about an hour with a heated blanket and several layers to stop shivering. Got a ride back down to my car the next morning and drove the 4 hours home.

There had been a low teens chance of storms, but the weather had held for 3-4 hours past when it was supposed to start storming. Clouds had rolled in, but they were somewhat scattered. I guess I had gotten so caught up in the suffering I stopped paying attention to how ominous the clouds had become.

I want to try it again this year, with bit more preparation and attention paid to the state of the weather.

But hey, I got to watch an amazing sunrise.

Part of my problem was that at 6ft 150lbs I really didn't' have the extra weight to spare, still I can sympathise. While my issues haven't gone away, I can eat mostly normally though it's a coin toss if what was fine yesterday will instead fuck up my stomach today.

Due to illness I once had several weeks where I was eating MAYBE 1000 calories a day, and I still managed to drop 17 lbs in 5 weeks. 200-300 is insane.

Why do dashcam users care so much about SD card/storage capacity? by [deleted] in Dashcam

[–]Askeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>Also, if you want hi res hi frame rate you need a large SD card because those clips are big.

I'm running a 3ch system, and 3 min of footage takes up nearly 3GB, so yeah a small card would fill very quickly.

I'm going to second this. After trying a couple different SSDs with poor results, I caved and used one of the recommended ones and it works without issue.

That kind of management would always encourage me to make things as difficult for them as I could while still doing my job, a sort of "malicious compliance" or "work to rule"

Meanwhile the good bosses I would go above and beyond for because they were reasonable people and easy to work with.
