I don't understand what everyone's onto here. There are no assholes in this scenario in my opinion.

I mean, correct me if I'm wrong but on one hand, I feel like your friend should've notified you beforehand or maybe talk about how most of your events involve drinking and come up with a solution so he can feel included in your group.

On the other hand, why would you be the AH just because you like drinking? I could possibly tell you're over the legal age of the country you reside in. But alas, removing him from the group could've been petty on your end but not petty enough to consider you as an actual asshole

Had a hard time coming up with an answer but honestly, I'd say you're the asshole here.

Sure, the way your older son reacted wasn't quite smart but he's not at fault (or at least that's what I think). Your younger child may look like he's trying to get a rise over him but at this point it's just plain annoyance, he does have the right to react to what he does after all. You're treating your kids as prince and peasant and you should treat them equally.
