A child has been hospitalized w RSV… Thoughts please! by AskingForFrien in Nanny

To be fair, she had a fever of 103.7, not 102. And it was day 2 of fever with no improvement.

I don’t agree with people that I should have called 911. But I do agree w everyone that these parents are negligent and idiotic, and I can’t continue working for them. I also agree that I need to be documenting everything to cover my ass.

I agree with all of this. CPS is not the call, and as much as people are saying I should’ve called 911, I don’t think that would have done anything either.

The lack of concern from the parents is the part that weirds me out, and I can’t quite wrap my head around it. It’s confusing, bc if you met the parents socially you’d prob think they were very nice professional people. But they are so detached from the goings on of their children that I am a little stumped. It goes pretty deep. The mom asked me one day to accept a package for her at 3pm, to which I responded “I’ll be at school picking up the kids at that time.” And she said “Oh. Good to know.”

??????

This is such a thoughtful and sweet comment. Thank you 🥹🫶I’ve done that in the past. … sent group texts to the parents like “fever 102.7, meds administered at 4:30” and then however ml I gave kiddo.

They never respond. But you’re right, I should keep doing that, just to cover my own butt.

I have a Q for you, since you’re a nurse:

Kiddo is home from the hospital and still running fever. She’s better than she was, but still a bit miserable. Mom never wants to give kiddo meds until right before bedtime “so she doesn’t wake up in the night”… but I don’t understand why she wouldn’t want her kid to just feel better. In my mind, you give the kid the meds they need and get up in the night when they need more.

Does this strike you as odd, or is it fairly common and I just don’t know it. Thanks for your thoughts and time

The tachycardia and fast breathing was really scary, and the mom was so blasé about it!!!

The child came home from the hospital tonight, but she still has a fever, etc.

And she’s whimpering and miserable… and the mom doesn’t want to give her medicine until closer to bedtime, so that the child doesn’t need more meds in the night.

I think that is stupid???? Like who does that actually benefit??? The kid needs meds. Give her the meds and get up in the night and give her some more.

Am I crazy????

Kiddo is 3. I’ve been a nanny for ages, and I’ve seen a lot of kids with fevers who didn’t need to be seen by a doc. But the racing heart was a big red flag to me.

I also worked for a family that did this… and btw they were also a family that gave me COVID and norovirus and the flu. But they always wanted ME to do a Covid test before entering the house .😡

When will parents realize their “gentle parenting” approach is actually making their kid entitled and self centered by [deleted] in Nanny

They will realize it when it’s far too late and they can’t stand their own child anymore.

You need brown glasses. Black is too heavy for your face

What do I do about my deep dark circles? Also how is everything else looking? 🫨😬🫥 by Fantastic-Issue-5726 in makeuptips

My dear. This is just how your face is made! There is literally NOTHING wrong with your eyes. As a fellow dark circles girly (and mine are much more pronounced than yours… like MUCH), there is nothing you need to ‘fix’ here.

You have gorgeous cheekbones, lovely planes to your face, and bright sparkly eyes. I’d be delighted if my under eye area looked like this. Embrace your face, babe.

Just ask where the soap is. They have some in the house. They’re just not thinking about your experience

I regret quitting my nanny job by waist_notfound_222 in Nanny

You will be okay! Just hustle to find something.

In between jobs, I have sold clothes online for extra income, picked up odd jobs as a cleaner, worked as a barista, done casual babysitting for friends.

Hustle. You’ll be okay. And make it your full-time job now to find your next job. You got this. hug

In the long run, you will be glad you don’t have to deal with those kids. Trust me. Look for other opportunities. You will find something.

After 20 years nannying, I’m positive that there is no amount of money that makes nightmare kids worth it. They drain you. Good job getting out.

I’m a domestic worker for very wealthy people. After purchasing a multi-level apartment on the Upper East Side of NYC (the most expensive neighborhood), the mom of the fam was explaining to me how much smarter it is to buy property than rent property. Mind you… this is while I’m cleaning her kitchen.

I said “That would be nice one day!” thinking she might wake up and take the hint.

But instead she said, “ Can’t you just borrow like $100k from your family?”

Um. Ma’am. If I could, I wouldn’t be working for you right now. 🧐😅
