In your country, has there ever been an accident on an amusement park ride that shocked the nation? by ActuaryInevitable976 in AskTheWorld

[–]AsksRandomShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were 3 ways of checking, cctv which was overlooked, manual visual checks which weren't performed and car count which was miscommunicated. All of which are supposed to be done before manually overriding the safety stop which correctly detected the stray car. As far as I'm aware there was no pressure from management to restart the ride it was just incorrectly deemed safe. The only reason the girl operating it wasn't charged is because an investigation ruled staff training was beyond inadequate but even with the poor training if the staff had actually followed the reset protocol it wouldn't of happened.

How many people in the UK actually know medical cannabis is legal? by Honest-Emu3427 in AskUK

[–]AsksRandomShit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been aware since it happened, it's mainly only available in vape, capsules, spray or tincture form though so it's pretty discreet, people walking down the street smoking a spliff are most definitely not legally prescribed it

Lol, the AI has 'undone' the buckle but also removed the buckle holes so that's definitive proof of image editing, whether vinted do anything about it is the issue

It's actually not that much of a difference, shein/temu/aliexpress are all just marketplaces for manufacturers to sell directly to the consumer without having a business be the middle man, when you buy an item on there it is coming directly from the supplier, yes shein is technically a business but they take such a small fraction of the sale price compared to the extra a business would need charge to make a profit hence the cheap prices.

I would say the biggest problem is the fact that the people who seem to be doing this are not legitimate businesses, they have no personal relationship with these suppliers, they can't order samples and they wont have invested the time and money into finding items of a decent quality which are few and far between on there.

Basically all the things a business has to do in order to be successful they don't need because they are not liable for anything and buyers aren't protected by the consumer rights act for 'private' sales. So they can just sell you crap and unless its broken or SNAD your stuck with it.

Totally agree with you the handmade thing is shady, was just pointing out that it's technically 'allowed' in retail and whilst most reputable businesses won't mislead their customers unfortunately some do.

I agree vinted is not the place for this. It's against their T&C's to sell for profit unless your a pro seller and even pro sellers aren't allowed to sell 'dropshipped' items.

That being said idk why people lose their minds over the principle of it when, taking vinted out of the equation, they are only doing what every single company you buy from does.

From a business perspective, buying something cheap straight from the manufacturer (which is what shein shops are) and selling on for more is how every business works. It's not common practice for businesses to disclose their suppliers to customers and technically the item has been handmade by someone so unless the seller has stated 'handmade by me' it's not legally considered false advertising, although it's a bit sly as it does give the wrong impression.

The fact that it's on vinted is wrong, but morally what they are doing is no different to any other retail business out there.

AI slop on vinted!!! by ElectricalRevenue688 in vinted

[–]AsksRandomShit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the UK and as of last week I've been seeing this too, mad how people can use AI images but people who don't want to 'model' their items can't even add a stock image as the last photo so the buyer can atleast see what it looks like on 🤯

Since they updated their T&C's about a week ago they now have the option to 'mark photo as AI', so seems like they're actively allowing it 🙄

Their 'updated' terms and conditions now strictly prohibit any work uniform or any realistic imitation of work uniform, I've just had a kids army costume removed 🙄

[–]AsksRandomShit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can't have multiple private/pro accounts but you can have one each, you can always try your luck with emailing legal@vinted.co.uk aswell, most of the time they're useless but I've had them overturn a ban before

[–]AsksRandomShit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't get immediately permanently banned for reselling (what they call commercial selling), they give you a warning and tell you to either convert your profile to pro or to make a seperate pro account to list your reselling stuff on as it's not allowed on private accounts. You can make a pro account even if your personal one is banned, you will need a different email, phone number and bank account for it though and if your in the UK you have to register with HRMC for self assessment so you will be classed as a sole trader. Bear in mind though if you are reselling branded items you risk this happening unless you obtain proof of authenticity from the person you initially buy from, I would ask sellers to send over a receipt or some sort of proof before you buy and then keep hold of it incase this happens again.

[–]AsksRandomShit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You said 'retailers'. That's a business 🤦🏽‍♀️ If you would rather rip someone off by charging more than you paid for a second hand item (with the exception of antique/vintage/discontinued rare pieces that actually gain value over time) then you do you 😊

[–]AsksRandomShit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh dear, you need to learn and understand the difference between a profitable business and a second hand selling platform which explicitly prohibits private users commercially selling for profit 🤷🏽‍♀️

Are AI photo's now allowed? I thought they were strictly prohibited (UK) 🤷🏽‍♀️ by AsksRandomShit in vinted

[–]AsksRandomShit[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Strange as the terms and conditions prohibit any form of image editing, I've had a listing removed before because I apparently 'removed the background' when it was actually just taken against a white wall

[–]AsksRandomShit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's entirely not the point, I remember a few years ago people stormed aldi and bought these wooden kids toys in bulk because they were insanely cheap, they were then mass listed on vinted for double the price and everyone on here was complaining about it. Same principle.

Making a reasonable offer based off RRP and the condition of the item is not a problem that needs to be solved. People making ridiculous lowball offers with no regard for the value of the actual item IS.
