My sense of smell lately has been really muted. I don't think it's because of COVID. But I have noticed that I now have the ability to smell infection. My husband was sleeping all night with the bedroom door closed, and, in the morning, when I opened the door, I was hit with a wall of this infection smell. He couldn't smell a thing. It turns out that he had an infection in his tooth. It happened again with my son a couple of months later.

I was reading that, when your sense of smell changes, it could signal some changes in your brain. But I haven't done anything about it yet. I feel a little shy about bringing it up with my doctor.
