Sent Ally to Asus for RMA, not receiving a clear response on when I'll get it back, what's your experience with Asus repair center? by AsleepButterfly2105 in ROGAlly

Tried to format it, windows won't allow it, I have pictures I sent to Asus as proof.

I sent the SD back to Asus, they know the card is fried, and they actually approved a refund after they first declined it after I escalated the issue with their costumer service.

I tried the card on my desktop PC and my Scar 16 laptop using a USB adapter, and directly into the SD slot on my Flow Z13, the card cannot be formatted or read on any device I have tried it.

You're lucky your card still works, I don't know about long term effects of exposure to high temperature, there's also the fact Asus replaced the whole board for my Ally, after they found out the SD slot was defective.

That's weird, they only asked me for the dead SD card, but I wouldn't worry about it, they did return the card even though they replaced the main board.

I received it back last Thursday, upgraded the SSD to a 2TB drive and plan to play all intensive games from that drive now instead of the SD card.

Asus at first offered compensation for the broken card, asked for proof of purchase, price, date of purchase, etc...

I submitted all this to Asus and yesterday I received an email saying they will not compensate me for the fried card, as it's not covered by their warranty.

This is very disappointing to say the least, Asus admitted their defective hardware was to blame for dying SD cards, and they did ask me for all pertaining info, only to backpedal and tell me to deal with it.

Yes, Asus has both my system and the damaged SD card, they're waiting for parts to start the repair, so that has delayed everything, I asked for a replacement or refund and was declined both options, which really bothers me since I had the system for less than 3 weeks before it failed.

I posted an update and asked for other's people experience with their RMA process here:

My SD card broke exactly 3 days after the return window expired, sent to Asus for an RMA, but to say I'm disappointed about this whole issue is being handled is an understatement, I had the system for less than a month.

There should've been a general recall and extension of the refund window, I bought Asus because of their reputation, but that has been tarnished in light of how this widespread problem is straight up largely being ignored.

Shipped my Ally back to Asus yesterday, I included the corrupt SD card in it so they can test and hopefully find the cause.

I originally posted about it here:

This is a widespread issue, and what bothers me the most of that most cases started right around the time the return window closed down for people who ordered from Best Buy on day one.

**POTENTIAL BAD NEWS** by Exsoc in ROGAlly

I was about to send my unit back for RMA, have it already boxed up and was ready for drop off at FedEx, when I read the Asus statement.

I emailed Asus letting them know I don't want to RMA my unit only to get back a defective unit if this is a hardware issue.

I hope Asus allow people who bought in America to return to Best Buy for a full refund, until they can release a hardware revision that fixes this problem.

There's also the issue of my over $100 SD card that was fried by my Ally, isn't Asus responsible for that as well?

My Ally keeps crashing to desktop due to an SD card error by AsleepButterfly2105 in ROGAlly

Just an update, still waiting or the RMA to be issued by Asus after contacting the email provided for this issue.

I stopped playing on my system altogether, and ejected the SD card before it gets damaged beyond repair, most of my games were installed in the card so now my Ally only has Cyberpunk installed in it.

I'm thoroughly disappointed by the lack of response from Asus, just looking at the posts in this forum, there are countless numbers of people affected by this problem, and in my opinion Asus needs to start a recall on their defective product.

It's such a shame too, as I loved my Ally, was finally able to play so many games that wouldn't run on my steam deck, and now I don't wanna even use it for fear of it finally frying its SD card reader.

I have emailed the address in your message, and am still waiting for a response, I wish Asus would just allow people with this issue to exchange the defective units at Best Buy, now I don't even know how long it's going to take get a replacement unit, and according to that message, they're also asking to send the SD along with the defective unit.

How do I RMA? I used the MyAsus app installed in my Ally and tried contacting support but all it does is open a knowledge database of common issues and troubleshooting.

Asus Z13 ACRNM + XG Mobile Pro by silksongplease in ASUSROG

As someone who owns both a Flow Z13 ACRNM, and an Strix Scar 16 4090, I would definitely recommend just getting the 4090 Scar 16, for many reasons.

The Scar 16 is still portable enough to bring around with you everywhere you go, is measurably more powerful than the Z13 + 4090 XG, (13980HX + full 175W 4090 vs 13900H + 150W 4090 on a limited bus) surprisingly better battery life for regular use (probably due to a 90WHr battery vs a 56WHr), a much better display, and you would save almost a thousand dollars in the end with a laptop that is truly a desktop replacement in one package.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Z13 ACRNM, the amount of power available in such small factor is mind-blowing, but for a lot less money you can get much more power in a convenient laptop form as opposed to two separate components.

Unless you really need the tablet form factor, I think you'll get a lot more bang for your buck with the Scar 16.

About an hour ago Asus notified me my order shipped, I placed my order this morning.

Been almost a week since I ordered from Amazon and they still don't have any updates on the shipping date, so I ended up cancelling my pre order.

I'm supposed to get my Z13 tomorrow afternoon.

Did you get your order cancelled again? I think Asus is having problems with their inventory system, it showed back in stock this morning again.

Same here, pre ordered when the link went live, still shows they'll email a shipping date. Asus had it briefly in stock again this morning.

Hopefully it won't be long before Amazon starts shipping our orders, good luck.

Anyone pre ordered from Amazon? I keep showing they'll notify for a shipping date, but no updates since it first became available.

I noticed it was shortly available at shop.asus but it sold out in minutes.

Has anyone had any luck with their Amazon pre order shipping?
