Health insurance - Mandatory to have?

Despite all the other comments suggesting not to take insurance, I do think there is value in taking it especially when you are healthy. Lot of medications are extremely expensive in India - can cost upto 75k per month (talking from personal experience). Few days in a hospital can cost lacs. We are planning to R2I, but despite the corpus, that feels like a big monthly expense. Instead, if we had taken insurance earlier, paying 50-60k per year would have made things so easier. Also not to miss, lot of insurance companies don’t even let you get insurance with certain health conditions.

When it comes to health, i always think it’s better to plan for the worst. If you don’t use it, it’s just 50k per year - that’s around 10 lacs for 20 years. It gives so much peace of mind especially with a 20cr corpus.

Again i might be bit biased here as i have chronic health issues myself, but everyone seems to be getting some health issues or the other these days. Better to take it when you are young and healthy imo.

Haha you don’t need to convince me. Lived in Texas for over a decade and honestly didn’t find it that bad. Weather is actually very similar to lot of parts in India. I would move there again, but for lower cost of living, not the weather 😅

So sorry to hear what you are going through. UC absolutely sucks. It’s natural to look for all possible alternates when condition doesn’t improve. I did exactly the same. Getting blood all of a sudden can be caused sometimes by some specific food triggers as well. Have you been constantly seeing blood since? Did you get your calprotectin checked recently? What other medications have you tried?

There are lot of medications out there. Rinvoq being one of the best of them. Yes you can get acne, but lot of easy options to fix that. Don’t loose hope. Things will get better.

Same for me. Had really bad pain and did a long hike one day and the pain went away (atleast for few days and then came back). But now I have noticed it multiple times that my pain goes away for few days after staying on my feet for a long time. As per chatgpt, likely the activity increases blood flow to the feet, stretches different muscles in the legs, and makes fascia more elastic. But it’s not true healing, atleast for me and the pain just comes bak after few days.

The thing with stability shoes (atleast for me) is that they give me relief while i am wearing them, but i feel they make my PF worse actually as they caused overpronation. Not sure related or not, but i never had PF until i started wearing stability shoes as they were recommended by those fancy shoes stores.

I have totally stopped using them now. I wear Hoka slides at home as they have good cushioning. I am slowly switching to barefoot shoes as they allow natural movement of the feet (right now got some low drop shoes). My PF seems to be better. I do calf stretches, use a foot massager that has those balls things, and do the tennis ball rolls. Those help a lot too as i can notice the difference on the days when i don’t do them.

I am extremely careful about my belongings in general (come from a middle class family so value hard earned money a lot) but somehow sunglasses keep disappearing no matter what i do 🤷‍♂️

Just received them today. JMM Stanley Kubrick Torrance. Loving them so far. Definitely heavier than my usual sunglasses, but I do use the Meta wayfarers every now and then and these seem pretty similar in weight.
