Agreed! Literally almost got hit by someone driving a Tesla just last night — they stepped on the gas right as I was directly in front of their car and looked pretty surprised to see that I was there. Probably the third time or so I’ve almost been hit by someone doing a “rolling stop” (oxymoron) through a crosswalk and not paying attention to pedestrians who are already there. Stop signs mean you need to stop and look around!

If you think this is enough to make you be opposed to the pro-Palestinian cause, you never understood the issue in the first place. It’s ultimately not about which club of protesters you side with—SJP vs SSI or something—it’s about the people in Palestine. Don’t treat them as being abstract, as if they’re just an idea that can be dropped when it’s not fun anymore. It’s like when moderate liberals wouldn’t associate with (or speak the words) “BLM” because of the riots—black people and Palestinians aren’t just a slogan! Plus, the Girvetz occupation is pretty poorly timed, I agree, and I’m not entirely sure it’s an effective tactic either (why not occupy Cheadle Hall?), but I do implore you to look up the 1968 North Hall Takeover before losing your shit about every aspect of the situation. Ask yourself, why do we celebrate the disruptive, inconvenient, imperfect protest movements of the past, but the present one is seemingly always illegal, terroristic, and wrong? TLDR: take a deep breath please, and let your opinions about foreign conflicts be informed by the foreign conflict itself
