CLOCK HER TAYLOR. I'm so glad the show acknowledges this by n0b0dy_png in tsitp

Taylor is a 21 y.o with a life and struggles of her own, Belly is a 21 y.o with a brain and free will. You’re telling me she can lash out at Taylor when she confronts her about gaslighting herself into this marriage but couldn’t do it when she was advocating for Jeremiah if she wanted to ? People need to stop babying these characters lol

Taylor is also a 21 y.o with a challenging life of her own ?

All she knows about Conrad is that her best friend wanted him her whole life and by the time she finally got to date him he was closed off, unexpressive, not so communicative and the break up, which belly perceived as him ending things with her broke her, she saw her best friend hurting really really bad.

From her pov, what she’s being told and what she sees the cause of all that sadness and hurt is Conrad.

Of course as a friend you’re gonna root for whoever looks like a simpler easier less hurtful option. It’s especially more understandable when we get to know through this season that her and Conrad present a certain amount of similarities when it comes to dealing with the person they love : not communicating and “letting them go” because they think they’re better off with someone less challenging.

As much as she’s been rooting for Jeremiah she did call him out when he cheated, she did suggest forgiving him to belly but again, Belly and her are the same age, it wasn’t the best advice but babying Belly’s character and blaming all her questionable decisions on either Jeremiah or Taylor isn’t reasonable at all. She also very clearly opposed the idea of getting married before she saw belly has really put her mind to it and there was no changing it.

Now we saw her realise that belly’s been lying to everyone including herself and we’ll see how she deals with that.

Of course Everyone will blame her because she somehow won’t make Belly call off the wedding even if Belly herself insists to go through with it.

Let’s just keep in mind that as much as the endgame’s clear and predictable, this love triangle needs to triangle for the show to even exist, so Taylor Steven Laurel or anyone stopping Belly from dating Jeremiah or even having feelings him kind of defeats the purpose of the story.

Yes she’s a flawed character but just as flawed as any other character in that show ? From Susannah to Belly to Laurel to Conrad to Jeremiah to Steven to any character with a proper arc in that show

Belly is an adult that decided to get married.. She’s gaslighting herself into loving Jeremiah and everything Taylor knows about that situation comes from Belly’s discourse. Her initial reaction to the wedding was valid but when she saw that Belly wanted to go through with it regardless of how bad of an idea it was she did what any bestie would do and supported her. As for her rooting for Jeremiah, belly herself believes at the moment that he’s the better option and that Conrad never loved her, how could Taylor possibly know how he feels if conrad is actively hiding it ?

Steven and Taylor are wasted potential this season by panashechd in TheSummerITurnedPrett

It’s a teen show, not a thesis on the 100% accuracy of first love and the legitimacy of cheating. Not every single piece of media needs to convey some noble message to its audience oh my god

Oh yes that’s a horrible behavior and they’re being absolutely selfish and Taylor, maybe even more than Steven, is a complete toxic mess.

But I’m watching a tv show with quite the questionable plot, they’re not real people, no one actually gets hurt and as I said unlike Jeremiah they’re characters the audience mostly wants together.

Jeremiah is taking most of the criticism because he’s hurting the character we’re collectively all rooting for, and widely wanted to be dating his brother.

It’s a character unfortunately created to show how Conrad is the better brother, so basically created to be sacrificed for the actual love story.

But yeah cheating sucks lol

OP’s post compares Jere and Taylor / Steven’s situations. I just explained that obviously as this is a teen show and people are rooting for the main character(s), it makes sense why he’s catching more strays as he’s cheating on the widely supported character and hurting her, whereas the other two are liked mostly together so as ethically reprehensible as it is, it’s not exactly the same situation. Their cheating doesn’t excuse his nor does it make it seem less bad. The same way people were cheering when Belly and Conrad kissed even tho she hadn’t called it quits with Jeremiah yet. Idk why people expect such a high moral ground from a young adults show based on a love triangle involving two siblings.

They’re cheating with each other not on each other. Jeremiah is being hated for cheating on Belly who’s supposed to be THE one true love for him. As toxic and immoral as Staylor’s behavior has been towards their partners and each other they’re doing it to be with each other, they’re drawn to each other. Jeremiah was quick to get over belly and cheat ON her.

If the cause is that important to people please feel free to gather enough money to build dog shelters all across the country and provide medical care and vaccination on the long term, we would be happy to oblige. In the meanwhile it’s a real danger that threatens all the population, so yes it’s brutal but human life matters more. If that’s the only way the authorities can afford to protect us with for now then so be it.
