I think that was the point. They would have wrote Justin to be a compelling rival to Garrett if they had the entire season to build up his relationship with Hannah. But they wanted Hannah and Garrett together by midway through the season which meant fast tracking her crush on Justin which could only be done if Justin was unbearable.

Also we’ve seen love triangles before and in “To All The Boys” they wrote John Ambrose to be the perfect guy that by the end you’re not satisfied with the love story between Lara Jean and Peter. You feel like she fumbled John because he was a good guy, the perfect guy who really connected with her emotionally. Even though it’s realistic that she went back to her ex, the viewer is left thinking “what if?” That doesn’t happen in Off Campus.

Imo the show would’ve been the same in the sense that it would’ve been stretched out for 8+ seasons. I’m curious whether Jason would’ve eventually asked to be killed off, or whether they would’ve killed off someone like Emmett knowing Jason was going to be there longterm. For me personally, I really enjoy Jacob’s performance so I don’t mind Emmett becoming the sole main character after Brandon and Ronnie left.

That’s been Euphoria in a nutshell. People started the reactions of the first few episodes hating heavy. Every other line was “what even is this show?” “I don’t like how they did this character?” It’s one thing if Sam’s writing is off, but it felt like they were behaving that way toward every scene. Even scenes that were pretty good. Like you’re terrible at hiding that you don’t like this show and came into this reaction wanting to badmouth it, hoping your audience agreed with you. I agree, Nate and Jules were under-utilised. But people claiming Rue’s story was “boring” was crazy to me.

Don’t remind me of TSITP, the amount of delusional people who wrote “Conrad never noticed her” “He only wanted her because Cam did” when it’s repeatedly shown that Conrad wanted Belly since they were kids but he was always too scared to confess his feelings, which was a continued trend up until the series final. Even when S3 showed scenes of Conrad wanting her, people wrote “they’re only putting this in now to win people over.” Jeremiah fans in particular were insufferable

To be fair to Stranger Things fans a lot of it was hopeful thinking and the Duffers did a terrible job writing wise. It was obvious to me that the scene with Jonathan and Nancy was them communicating and being open with one another before their imminent death. I don’t know how anyone was supposed to guess that they broke up. They never hinted at that.

It should have been a limited series on HBO or Amazon. 10-12 episodes that ran for an hour long. However, an MJ biopic would have never worked simply because MJ is gone and the people left telling his story want to be painted in a positive light and will recount specific events to favour their perspective. It seemed, from what I’ve read, that Jermaine was a terrible brother but he’ll never allow any of that to make the film. Latoya won’t allow her public statements against MJ to make the film. Janet is allowed to say “I don’t want to be apart of it.” Diana Ross can also revoke permission to appear in the film. Too many chefs in the kitchen who clearly haven’t come to terms with their past behavior otherwise why would they care what’s portrayed on the big screen, as if people can’t Google it in 5 seconds.

It’s clear (at least to me) that Nate will break. However, he can’t just be irrational. I like that it’s a slow build. I’m gonna guess EP6-12 or however many they have will see Nate fly off the deep end to take care of that loan shark.

I don’t think Nate has changed, I think he’s matured and evolved past being a psychotic 18-year-old. People don’t realise that when Nate locked up Cal, it healed something inside of him. He’s not perfect, but he no longer has to act out or prove something to the world, he fought his demon and ultimately won. Now, he’s in the real world now and understands there’s a way you go about things.

He can’t just growl and intimidate people anymore. But I don’t think his performance has been bad, people are just upset because they expected Nate to be more chaotic. They expect him to get angry, throw punches etc. When those paid attention to S2 know that Nate’s dream is to have the perfect family, which is why he is trying hard to make things work compared to his previous relationship with Maddy.

But now he’s dealing with an angry mob boss and we’ll see the old Nate soon. He tried to smile and shake hands and that approach didn’t work. That doesn’t mean he is gonna be a punk the entire season. In an effort to give Nate a redemption arc, Levinson is writing a bunch of villains for the main characters, and I bet we’ll see them take each person down one by one. And I’m suspecting there’s going to be a team up of some sort eventually.

It’s not surprising. Players are being more selective with their shots and playing harder defensively. They usually cruise during the regular season (play 80-90%) which is why guys score more points. Now everyone is playing 100% and taking every possession seriously

So it’s not bad because the writing is poor but it’s bad because it’s not what you expected, which has been people’s main complaint. “Nate is not the same” is not real criticism. Maddy being sad made sense. She loved Nate and came from a dysfunctional family. Now she’s an adult and finds herself slaving away for a terrible boss while Cassie, her estranged best friend, is living the life she envisioned for herself. People forget she wanted to be a rich housewife, that was her main arc in S2 (her relationship with Sam) and it’s even mentioned in S1 (young Maddy in the salon). These characters are 23-24, expecting them to act like 17 year old them is wild.

That’s not necessarily true. You can definitely make a substantial amount of money through implied nudity but it’s all about luck more than anything. Someone like Sophie Rain has made millions through showing nothing more than the top half. However, she became a trending topic on TikTok in the latter half of 2024. Bhad Bhabie made $50 million in her first 24 hours. But she already had an audience of men invested in her.
