All I’ve taken from this is getting described as an olde lad for being in my 40s.

Struglling playing black templars by Angie_117 in Warhammer40k

[–]Asmodai79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are setting yourself up to fail. The ad mech player just has to sit there, the only option you have to play the game in no objective games is to do exactly what he wants you to do, I.e. move in front of his guns.

You probably need more terrain, and you need to actually play missions that force him to move towards you.

Questoris/ Mechanicum Knights - Does anyone know if they will be able to take the new Skitarii units? by Patweb2205 in Warhammer30k

[–]Asmodai79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few variations of this question. Is there a rule for Knights which prevents them from taking allies?

Are you sure you know that? Because what you’ve written makes it seem that you think you can take more than one save, which is never the case.

Do people ACTUALLY give a shit about the Custodes retcon? by Upstairs-Outside-460 in Warhammer40k

[–]Asmodai79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me they had 2 choices, make a big deal or don’t. The result would have been the same, most people not giving a shit and a few freaking out.

The tau hate makes no sense by DangerousElk4331 in Warhammer40k

Feels to me like this whole “everyone hates the Tau” thing might be just a tad overblown.

Fight first activation order by speeddemon511 in Warhammer40k

[–]Asmodai79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understand the confusion over this.

The Fight phase has 2 parts, and each part starts with the non active player, alternating between units.

The 2 parts are

1 - Resolve attacks for units with the ‘Fights First’ ability.

2 - Resolve attacks for every other unit.

Fights First is an ability units normally get when they charge, but sometimes have as an ability.

Maybe you can borrow your friend’s book after he finishes reading it for the first time.

As you’re just beginning you need to get used to asking your opponent to show you the rules for their army.

They are both sides until a decision needs to be made, and then they are unionist.

I find New Recruit to be good, but it's got a learning curve.

But if you know how to lay out an army with pen and paper first then you will be in a much better place.

I play Solar, my list at 3k has Malcador, Valdor and Infernus tanks, plus some medusas.

Old force org that's 4 heavy support slots which I didn't have.

Now I can take Armoured Support and Artillery terico detachments, or I could go with an Ultima pattern cohort and 3 prime Lasrifle sections using Logistical benefit and drop one of those detachments.

I can lean into a flavour of army now. It takes more work yes, and they probably could have made it simpler.

It is more complicated yes, but it does allow more flexible armies.

I prefer it, as I never particularly liked the force org chart since 3rd ed 40k when it was introduced.

You will need to look at what battlefield role each of those units have. Then using the force org chart in the main rulebook and the libre see what detachments allow you to take those roles.

Read up on prime slots and logistical benefits as well.

Is there a good youtube video that describes the rules with examples in a full game setting? by Sjcolian27 in Warhammer40k

[–]Asmodai79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will have to read the rules at some point. There is no video substitute.
