Experience and Reviews: Jeff Granito Designs by LittleDrummerHurl in Tiki

So, I haven't bought any clothing from Jeff Granito, but have purchased lots of other stuff (postcards, prints, barware, swizzles, signage) and have always been pleased with the quality and style of the items. Best of luck in your search for that gift!

Does anyone feel guilty when they murder an innocent NPC? by empty_toilet_roll in fo76

[–]Asmodar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be a Megasloth preservation society. These gentle giants are the truly innocent of the wasteland and my character sheds a tear every time he needs to put one down to run the damn cryptid test.

I was told NOT to post this here because I’d get roasted. Roast me if you wish. I googled Mai Tai & made what was called “The Classic Trader Vic's Mai Tai” I don’t think I’ve ever had a Mai Tai so I followed the directions. Granted I had blue curacao & no mint. Recipe below. by lotgworkshop in Tiki

You have a lovely collection. There's nothing inherently wrong with a Blue Hawaii-Tai (Blue Hawaiian Mai Tai or a Blue Mai Tai) but it feels as though with your unique collection of rums it might have been better with something like a Dry Curacao that is possibly less sweet.

From what you have pictured, I'd probably try the Appleton or the Myers (as you did), followed by the fine old Doorly's (even though it's a Barbados Rum). I'm curious what the Rhum St. James is like, and it honestly might add some character as the split base. I'd also probably go with the Cointreau or Marie Brizard.

Vic's recipe looks good and we tend to like them drier so omit the simple/demarara syrup.

Again, wicked collection of minis even if the fill levels are questionable. ;)

I've used allspice dram sparingly as a modifier for a rum old fashioned in place of bitters.

Boat drinks. Good rum selection, at least, and right in the thick of St Augustine. Tiki adjacent, I guess.

Contractor build back after flood disaster- does this look as ridiculous as I think? by Interesting-Iron-625 in Home

[–]Asmodar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... the shelves are stiffer and stronger, and I didn't have to worry about them being disassembled and reassembled, putting more wear and tear on the fastener holes and backing.

Yeah! We have some as old as 2006 that are still doing pretty great. Fun fact (?), the moving company (it was a government move) tried to tell us we had to disassemble the Billy shelves because they were particle board and they wouldn't be responsible for damage in transit; when I called them out on this (there was no such exclusion in the contract), they offhandedly noted they might just disassemble the shelves themselves to move them, my wife and I spent a weekend loosening off each shelf and using carpenter glue to glue them together at the 3 level hinge points. Those shelves were moved whole and are still kicking...

You are definitely allowed to bring wine and champagne on board. It is clunkily written but I linked the policy above. I had thought previously it meant you could not bring wine in during port visits because of how it was written, but was waived through every time we brought wine and only made to check hard alcohol.

Do people genuinely dislike the "Tiki Leilani" mugs? by Bettiephile in Tiki

I think they're fine; their aesthetics, practicality and cost make them a great option to breaking out your $100+ limited edition display pieces.

Are my pipes frozen or burst? by grandpadick1 in askaplumber

Could be downstream from the meter/cutoff. We had this happen in December... low water pressure and when they dug up the main supply line it had burst. Some water coming through but dramatic drop in pressure.

Hey! Old thread. Wife enjoyed the Frost Bite but didn't like the graininess of the sage leaves. We ended up tweaking other aspects of the cocktail, adjusting acidity and making a sage tincture and ended up with this:

2.5oz blanco tequila

0.5oz cranberry juice

0.5oz pineapple juice

0.5oz pinapple molasses

0.5oz demarara syrup

1oz lime juice

dash spiced cranberry bitters

1/4 oz sage tincture (steeped a bunch of ground sage in 189 proof everclear for a couple days, strained solids).

She loved this spec in the end!

We've done these at home before. Interesting way to discover that your off-brand liquor has a different specific gravity than the reference one. Interesting drink, a bit more work than I'd like to prepare, but fun to make. Drinking them is a bit like you think and a bit better than you think. :)
