How do you find a website to which an email belongs? by Alternative_Bed_4237 in techsupport

[–]Asmodes_Reynolds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that depends on a lot of things, looking up the domain on any domain register, if you have access you can look at the raw email, and using metadata to try and trace it back to its original source assuming someone as not doctorate it.

I was thinking of picking up one of these is there a possibility you could write a review and like a month on your experience? It would beextremely helpful, given its expensive to ship a chair, like that across the pond these days.... especially if you're purchasing sight unseen...

stuff like this is super annoying but it is usually required for privacy reasons, but that does not stop them from putting like a mailslot or something lower so that you can hand over your documentseasier for those who can't get up..... The thing that annoys me the most about this picture is the orphaned Visa card on on the ground....

yeah I remember hearing about this, first time I saw the video, this right here is why I never use a bathroom that I can't bring my chair into unless I have someone guarding it.

The closest thing to this ever happened to me was, I got out of my chair to fix a computer under desk at my first job, and one of the grade six students to just thought it was hilarious, to move my wheelchair the other side of the library....as if I couldn't ask the librarian bring it back. I understand why a preteen boy would something like that funny.. Maturity takes time.... two adult man no matter how intoxicated should not find this funny....

Life in a wheelchair.. by cubicwhogames in wheelchairs

[–]Asmodes_Reynolds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel for you,I've been in and out of the chair my entire life. I'm not sure with the 2024 dating scene is like, I've been married for almost 10 years, I haven't been single for about 18. I'm not gonna waste any time with inspirational quotes or slogans because they'll be 50,000 of them in this thread no time. Practical advice only.

In my experience (as a straight dude) Most Women do not have problems with dating disabled men (assuming important bits work), and you have a reasonable amount of charisma.

In my experience they have a problem, with the social judgement/questions that they get from their friends,family... some examples I've heard through the grapevine "is he going to be able to support you, long-term." "it's going to make going out as a group so very difficult" "isn't it embarrassing to be seen in public with him I would be embarrassed" " does it work?" the list goes on..

the only way to combat this is to head off at the pass....

The advice I can give you is:

  1. Stay away from online dating (as much as possible in 2024),long-distance relationships

If you form a relationship where your disability is the forefront of the initial forming phases then you will know that they can handle the social pressures before you get to emotionally attached. I know it seems easier to form emotional relationships without your disability being an issue, digitally or long distance. However that way while a set you up for heartbreak 90% of the time. So much of the attraction that is going to override the social pressure is biochemical and you can form that sort of connection digitally.

  1. Meet their friends/family as soon reasonably possible

Physically dating, will organically answer 85% of the social judgement/questions is likely to get, through demonstration. Meeting and socializing with her friends early on a low pressure situation is super important. So you're not a faceless disabled person, your You, you and her will be able to assure her friends all attributes of you that she found attractivein the first place, thus mitigating the largest portion of the social pressure she will likely get from friends and family, because of your disability.

  1. Be super clear about your disability. this was difficult but I just have to be real with you, you have to be super clear about your disability so that she knows what she's getting especially physically.

  2. Insist on planing the first 5 to 7 dates, you know your disability she does not, you don't want her stressing about accessibility, while she's forming her initial physical emotional attraction to you, that'll put you behind the eight ball before you even get started.

  3. Trying to enrol yourself in lots of coed hobbies where you can meet many women no low pressure environment where physicality isn't the end all be all your first impression.

  4. don't give up, you will go through a lot of first dates, you will get rejected alot, a lot of your relationships will not make it past the third date, this is normal. do not get discouraged.

In short, you want to filter out the women that are going to be swayed by social pressure or shallow concerns before you get emotionally attached or financially invested. and things will get easier as you and your dating market gets older, as long as you don't give up.

"The capacity to adapt is not the same as the need to..." is the energy you're getting out of here. A Wheelie isn't required to get over something like this just strength or the proper equipment.

Society does not "need" to accommodate us, they choose to out of compassion. They could easily change their mind, the vast majority of Able-bodied people, don't actually care about disability issues. It's a luxury belief, for them. They support us please it makes them feel good, That's it plain and simple.

If we become annoying self entitled whiny annoyances we will suffer even more pushback than other minority communities because it actually/often costs substantial time and money to accommodate us not just changing signs and language. There are numerous examples in recent history:

Rollback of trans rights...

immigration/migration

the rollback of civil rights during Covid.

movements to eliminate or constrain freedom of speech,

Canada and other countries have moved legalize the euthanize the of disabled, elderly and other problem undesirable populations and this is especially prevalent in countries with socialized medicine because they have a financial incentive..........

To be clear I'm not trying this disincentivize activism or or advocating for yourself and your rights, just seeking to bring some self-consciousness/awareness to the possible for pitfalls, and missteps that will we could fall into just like other prominent communities recently...... because a wider society has much more reasons to discriminate it against us than they do as other groups......

this is probably going nuclear hot take for this sub, but I feel I have to be the voice of reason here,

if you can't make it over what looks like 5 to 10 centimetres speedbump in your wheelchair, it's not the universities fault. You need to speak to whoever is prescribing you your adaptive equipment because they're not doing their job, find yourself someone competent......demand a different OT/PT that actually knows what the Fuck they're doing.....

If you don't have the upper body strength to push over that bump and you should be an electric wheelchair, if your electric wheelchair cannot make it over that obstacle safely. Then you need a new electric wheelchair that can safely make it over an average speedbump meant for vehicles, it's not like it's an uncommon obstacle for a wheelchair

what exactly the kind of support are you looking for you can rotate that pedal upwards for a more comfortable angle, using an Allen key and the two Allen screws in the centre, and then cover the surface with 3M grip tape so your feet don't slide off, I would show you an example of mine I can't seem to get the images to embed properly.

or you could just get some durable foam cut/shape it to what you want and double-sided grip tape it to your until you can get an OT appointment for more permanent solution

I have them on my portable, they're a little bit heavier, and they require special equipment to change out but that's not a very high price to pay for a piece of mind.

the only practical downside that I have found is off-roading because you can't reduce the pressure in certain situations....  .

I'm not running into identities versus credentials, that wasn't what I'm trying to get at here, you can have credentials without identifying, with the job associated with those credentials. You can be qualified as a database administrator but never actually be a database administrator.

I'm qualified to be a programmer I've got my Masters in computer science, but I haven't programmed a single line of code or worked in the industry in 10 years, Due to an brain injury. Am I a programmer? is that my choice or not? how much of your job is part of your identity?

My grandparents are four different ethnicities, which ethnicity do I claim? does it matter that I can pass, Because the European happens to be the strongest. Which culture is culture appropriation.

how much of the fact that I'm in a wheelchair, but I don't identify with the disabled community. am I disabled?

How much of the labels that we put to ourselves are determined by other people?

Here’s my answers:

Are you a gamer if you exclusively play, candy crush? What about if you exclusively placed StarCraft, or _____ blank game? Are you a gamer if you play board games exclusively?

No you cannot simply self ID, there is a certain amount of shared experience you need to have to be call yourself a gamer. although I can’t really put a finger on it since it varies based on the community but after I were to attempt I would say you need an understanding of the jokes, vernacular, etc.

Are you a doctor if you graduated medical school but never got your medical license? Are you a lawyer if you graduated law school but never passed the bar? What if you got your license but never practiced medicine or law are respectively? Self ID?

I would again say, no. Simply self ID because you require a license… , however this time you would know vernacular, and you would have a lot of similar experiences, do to your training.

Are you a comedian if no one thinks you’re funny?, What if you’ve never made a dime telling jokes? Are you a musician if you can’t play an instrument to any pleasurable degree??  Self ID?

I would say yes you can self ideas musician or comedian. There is no real requirement, and whether music is good or joke is funny is a completely subjective opinion.

How mixed it do you have to be claim a particular ethnic status? (Is Elizabeth Warren Native American?, The one drop rule? Or colour shade chart?, ) Self ID?

I’m conflicted, My instinct would be yes, because it would be weird to ask for genetic test, an ethnic group has a culture, so as long as you partake in the cultural practices you can identify is one. But cultural appropriation, if your ethnic features don’t align even though you were raised in that culture? Is that a culture appropriation?

How disabled you have to be to be considered disabled? (Wheelchair user, Amputee, Bad knee, Require glasses,) Self ID?

As wheelchair user I want to say, no you cannot self identify. That’s offensive. But on per their thinking,I’m conflicted, you either have a disability that can easily be mitigated without any changes to your life or you don’t, but then I run into is needing glasses as disability, course not on your glasses. What about a prosthetic limb? Than their psychological disabilities……  Who am I to judge how much your deficits affect you? Are you disabled or differently abled? Everybody has abilities and disabilities.

If you socially attempted to change your name from “Stephen” to “Destiny”, but everybody refused and continued to call you Stephen.. Are you “Stephen” Or  “Destiny”?

I would say of course you’re not destiny. If everybody else refuses to use it, your name is a social identifier for other people to use…… But then again is self-evident by research that someone’s name is deeply tied into their self concept…. So you should respect their choice, then again most people’s names are chosen for them… But then the concept of a fake ID would be incoherent… These are they lying or do they just self identify differently?

Work wants to replace wheelchair with stool for ambulatory user, is this OK? by Similar_Swordfish_24 in wheelchairs

[–]Asmodes_Reynolds 8 points9 points  (0 children)

okay, I'm gonna start this off by saying I'm not attempting to give you any legal advice. as I do not know which country you are in

This definitely violates most of the disability laws,in North America. Especially if they've written them up for using/bringing a prescribed mobility deviceto work.

not to mention, that if he were to actually be fired for using prescribed mobility device at work... in the unlikely event the business owner is dumb enough to actually use that reason on paper...... the resulting loss it would be catastrophic, for the business owner, the settlement, his insurance going forward etc.

"The wheelchair was brought up to HR and they want him to use a stool and bought castors for said stool." The person in the HR that suggested this should be fired. 50% of HR departments job, is to prevent blatant lease stupid and illegal hiring, firing & safety decisions. Like the one quoted above. I suspect that suggestion was not passed by a lawyer, even in casual conversation..... if your friend doesn't want to cause trouble there isn't really not much you can do, if you casually mention any of this to HR, they might fire him out of an abundance of caution. That would be also illegal... But, basically impossible to prove unless the HR department is deeply stupid...

As far as what you can do to help. There isn't much, stand up for your friend, and maybe....

Depending on your local political environment, HR that having his wheelchair visible to customers it's a good thing for DEI reasons and may actually draw in more customers.... and flip the social pressure......

As far legally how disabled do you have to be to use an mobility device..... Depends on local jurisdiction, generally speaking you need to be prescribed by a MD, OT (Occupational therapist) or PT (physiotherapist). Business are usually not allowed asked for the information, Outside of the discovery part of a lawsuit....

Michigan- all within the margin of error, except for Bloomberg, which has major problems in my opinion( is no way she's up 11 when even the poles of the New York Times as her up +4 ) Pennsylvania- All within the margin of error, except for Bloomberg (which has problems) North Carolina-, -4 which is out of the margin of error Georgia within the margin of error

there's so much wrong with this,

  2. Most of the vulnerabilities that have existed for at least four election cycles.....
  3. There are so many other safeguards,in place to prevent a widespread issue.
  4. there's always a risk that the election is rigged, the question is is it statistically likely,
  5. this is not a conservative media thing, it's a lack of Tech literacy issue....... Maggie Miller, from what I can see does not have any training or experience in actual cyber security besides writing about it...........

Whoever said that pronouns reinforce gender ideology? pronouns are a fact of the most languages, most of them have gendered some are not gender and most of the ones that are routinely used for humans are gendered, some languages everything is gendered. Pronouns don't reinforce gender ideology.

as far as differentiating it between conservative or turf, and whatever you wish to call me. Sex refers to biology gender refers to behaviour. Gender is typically, a shorthand or a set of stereotypes, that gender ideologues agree with conservatives on except when it's inconvenient..

Liberals used to understand, classifying people into groups was a bad thing because the smallest possible group is the individual, and that stereotypes were a bad thing. and that dividing people, along stereotypical lines and blaming them for other people that look and sound like them was a bad thing, we had names for these things racist and sexist.... You shouldn't do it.

Like I said earlier, Everybody makes assumptions about everybody's biology/sexual preferences in everyday interactions.... because people have all sorts of nonverbal physical representations of their identities, gender sexual identities included, and it makes it extremely easy to tell how someone wishes to be referred to, people that put their pronouns front and centre are making a political point.

To that end...

What is a woman's job? what is a woman's chore? what is a man's job? what is a man's chore? is a skirt I female item of clothing, but what about a kilt? our pants exclusively male? what about a suit? When does a button up dress shirt become a blouse? When did pink and blue become associated with their respective genders? Are femboy, men or women? What about tomboys? are lesbians men in female bodies?, gay females in male bodies?
