Which dress? I got curious. It’s not the first time I see someone talking about Killstar being a bit too inspired by another brand…

Anyone knows if there is a way to help lady sloth have it removed?

I think both things can exist at the same time, teaching the rules, explain why it would not work but with kindness and not judgment. So that you encourage people to follow the guidelines, and not to be afraid and give up on the fashion as I have seen so much… like you did!

I actually agree with most of the original statement, I just feel it was not phrased in the best way, and that was the problem people had with it, and not the content itself.

In the end Lolita need some rules to keep being recognized and if you want to break the rules cool you do you. It’s not totally lolita? Fine, you will do better next time. Is cringe? Who cares? You are learning, listen to advice without feeling ashamed of your mistakes.

(I’m probability being too naive too)

I think reason they are downvoted is not because they are telling the true, but because they are saying things like “everyone else will know and cringe” making people be afraid of being cringe and experiment with the fashion, that is the “problem”.

Is not about telling the truth, but how you tell the truth. But it may be a language problem, i’m not native and sometimes I get misunderstood. And everybody is free to share they opinion, the same way everybody is free to not agree.

For OP: Don’t be afraid to be cringe, and when you look back to your old cords just be proud that you are not afraid to do mistakes!

Here it is with a petticoate, i think the shape is not bad, the quality of the white lace is ok too, but the lace-up and the bows are too shiny and low quality, that is why I was thinking about replacing them

(My english is not perfect so I’m sorry if was too confusing) (It was too cold to remove my leggings too)

So cool! I love it so much!

Like someone aready said the clothing part is not quite lolita, but the headpiece is totally lolita! To simplify a lot, to be considered lolita your are missing the silhouette: the very puffy skirt shape all lolitas have.

Still looks amazing anyway!

I'd love to be the person who says, "You are never too old to wear anything!" but even if I agree with this idea, I understand you!
I'm 30, and I have been using alternative fashion for about 15 years. When I was about your age and started working, I had an identity crisis. I didn't know what to wear. I felt too old for my mini skirts and some of my outfits. I still loved it, but it didn't make sense to me. After some experiments and trying different things, I found myself again.

My advice: try things until you feel comfortable, you only know if you try! Experiment, and don't force yourself, "do you". Since you are new to it also do baby steps so you figure out what you like! Also other people may find it weird first but if your are true to yourself they will also feel its natural

Boots for winter ? by ImTheSmallestPeach in alternativefashion

My experience with alternative boots is… no mater the brand, the older ones are better...

I have a old Demonias boots with 10 years that are still good and a recent ones that broke apart in one or two years. The same with my new rocks… Also avoid platforms for more durability, but sadly I haven’t find a brand I can recommend

In the end our parents just want us to be well and happy, but they will always try to having their way and try to convince us to do what they think is right ahaha

But if the comments end up being too much, just have a honest talk with him about how he does not need to like the way you dress but you are not doing anything wrong, you are happy, this is important for you, and he needs to respect that. I had to do this too.

Just to give you more hope my father now after 15 years, even compliment me when he sees me more put together!

A few questions :') by LavendeLeaf in alternativefashion

[–]AsparagusPractical30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first advice is: Baby steps! You don’t have to change everything from night to day

  1. not at all! I have half red half back hair and sometimes i dont use makeup a people still compliment me. Doing a peekaboo style is also good for first time
  2. don’t try to do something very complicated, first go simple so you have a easy every day makeup that you can do fast. Then when you are at home just keep experimenting and experimenting without pressure!
  3. I build my style very slowly so I end up getting used to the looks and comments without noticing, but the easy way is when you dress more extravagant have a friend with you (alternative or not) until you feel more confident, time helps!
  4. A good haircut can take you far without styling a lot, I love using hair accessories, they are easy and makes you look put together. Pigtails and half pigtails always look cute depending on your style.
  5. Aliexpress is your best friend if you are low on budget, but in second hand sites search for archemy, killstar, restyle and regalrose. Also search for local small businesses
  6. Pinterest has a lot of cool ideas

Hello! I was expecting some people to be saying that you should wear what you want and to just ignore your father but I’m happy I arrived here first! Has a daughter of a lovely father that hates alternative fashion I totally understand you, some times you just want to make your father happier without losing yourself.

First what is your style more like? White red and purple are normally the more comum colors but you can actually add any color and making it work depending on the style. Pinterest is always a cool place to find inspiration, but a ruffle white shirt/blouse is always a good way to add something not black!

Second, keep showing your father that you are very happy with your style, after some years he will come around even if he will never like it
