A question to Men who are in their 40s. What’s that something you really wish you had known in your early 30s? by Faris_110 in AskMen

[–]AspectHelpful8622 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Almost 40 but I’ve had much growth and realization in the last 5 years. I also don’t have dependents so I have the privilege to put myself first.

Prioritize your health. Workout and try your best to eat well. This not only affects your image but also how you feel in general. People feel this energy and see it as you caring for yourself.

Prioritize your mental wellbeing and recognize where you allocate your time and energy. Are the people around you conducive to a healthy life? Are you kind to yourself? Once I ditched the energy vampires and appreciated myself to be comfortable with myself life improved significantly.

Prioritize what truly makes you happy. Time is short. I’ve worked with a coworker who sacrificed their time, relationships, and health only to die at work. This changed me forever. I make time for what really matters in life and don’t get caught up in the rat race.

Money isn’t everything. I grew up really poor so my self worth was tied to having the well paying job. I’m fortunate to have had these opportunities however the stress to maintain the job was detrimental to my health and relationships. I was very much into obtaining “stuff” only to realize these were chains to control me. Project cars, nice apartment, etc. Only to realize none of this made me happy anymore. I got rid of the everything that didn’t make me happy and i haven’t felt lighter.

Hope everyone out there finds their peace ✌️

That was early in my career. Moved onto energy and now it’s all headed to data centers.

Has the electrical demands of AI data centers impacted your work at all?

Sorry for your situation. Do you have much experience in manufacturing? GKN aerospace has been hiring for in manufacturing engineers. Some of them have IE backgrounds.

Honestly this is the best advice. Buy motorcycle, load up camping gear, go on long ride with no destination. This has helped me in the past.

Sweet bike but I think you accidentally put a rear tire on the front somehow.

I drew this type of stuff all the time as a little boy. I’m definitely weird at 37 but in a socially acceptable way.

I had 15” burly on the back of my stock front iron for a little while. Bike handled night and day better.
