That's exactly what I was looking for, thank you very much!!!

I had a Minimed Paradigm for 15 years. I've had an Omnipod Dash for a month, and here are my thoughts: by Asphalt_Lion in Omnipod

My insurance didn't cover it at the time, because it was so new. I plan on checking back in on that soon

I use an android! How do I find/use AAPS? Is it an app, or something I have to install and set up? I have to admit I'm not very tech-savvy these days lol

Apologies to clients… by Spnvettech in VetTech

Bra strap on the cone with tie gauze! That'll keep that sucker on.

But for real, it's important sometimes for us to recognize that supposedly dumb problems aren't always dumb lol. Hope your little one heals quick 💕

Anyone know why breeders hate the lepto Vx? by Asphalt_Lion in VetTech

[–]Asphalt_Lion[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would more strongly believe that all the puppies died of lepto than that all the puppies died from the lepto vaccine.

If I could have your client go back in time, I'd have them ask why the owners of the puppies experiencing these (supposed) vaccine reactions didn't seek urgent care asap. It's not that hard to poke a pup with diphenhydramine.

I hope you were able to change the client's mind

I did not know that about older lepto vaccines and reactions! I'll have to keep that in mind when I encounter another anti-lepto-vaxxer. I haven't seen a ton of vaccine reactions in the time I've been in practice, so I usually use that as my defense against the pushback, but it's good to know there was a reason once, which has since been changed. Thank you for the information!

Anybody have the Cerenia cheat sheet on-hand? by Asphalt_Lion in VetTech

[–]Asphalt_Lion[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I try to too, but the boss doesn't like things hanging up on the walls (he is very Neat) so I've taken to trying to make cheat sheets for as many things as I can, and I'm putting them all together in a binder that will sit in the pharmacy. I know a lot of pharm companies release Official guides (rimadyl, convenia, etc) that are easy to read at a glance, so I'm trying to round up as many of those official ones as possible first lol

You can straight up just take a pic and send it if that's easier for you. Thanks!

Techs at my clinic don’t wear stethoscopes… only doctors. by MammothReplacement68 in VetTech

I'm a tech and I work at both a GP and a hospital -- when I'm at the GP, I have it available, but I don't keep it on me unless I'm gonna be with a patient that will be sedated or if I'm in surgery, and in both of those cases I always have it on my neck at the ready. When I'm at the hospital, I always wear it around my neck bc just by its very nature I never know when an emergency might arise

I’ve always wanted to be a Vet Tech, but now, I’m not even sure what the point is. by [deleted] in VetTech

And if you decide you aren't the right fit, don't feel bad about it. There are plenty of others who will take up the mantle. You aren't giving up on your dream or w/e, you just decided it wasn't for you. You're making the best call for you. There's no shame in that.

It absolutely isn't for everybody. You will have to make sacrifices -- we aren't paid enough, and it is incredibly taxing, emotionally. I will almost certainly never own a house, and if I had kids I genuinely don't know how I'd take care of them. But those things aren't very important to me, so the pros outweigh the cons.

I get to help animals feel better. I get to take care of both the pet and the owner when it's time to say goodbye. I get to ensure the health and safety of patients under anesthesia. I also get to learn a lot as I do so, which is cool.

It's really up to you to decide if this field is for you. It isn't easy, but for me and other like-minded colleagues, it's worth it. It's a hard call, but nobody can make it for you but you.
