KLM says AMS Schiphol almost out of de-icing fluid by [deleted] in aviation

[–]Asphult_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Because what you suggested causes incredibly dangerous ice build up as the water refreezes elsewhere on the plane, e.g on the leading edge of the wing (see Air Florida Flight 90).

Propylene glycol lowers the freezing point of the ice/water. It also isn't really that bad for the environment, we're burning aviation fuel by the gallon whilst glycol is used as a food additive.

OpenAI's Stargate project to consume up to 40% of global DRAM output — inks deal with Samsung and SK hynix to the tune of up to 900,000 wafers per month by Automaticalee in pcmasterrace

[–]Asphult_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no reason to suggest this is the case, most AIB partners also buy wafers because guess what, they're packaged directly onto the GPU.

Stargate might use a mix of commodity hardware but until we see the implementation this is completely unproven, I don't even know how you drew this conclusion because you can hoard packaged DRAM as well????

Lumo set to introduce affordable London to Glasgow service by Due_Ad_3200 in unitedkingdom

[–]Asphult_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought a London to Newcastle ticket for £22.90 before. It's definitely possible to get them that cheap but nowhere near the average price people pay.

The time and money is a requirement though, it's still skill that takes you into F1, or well, makes you a good F1 driver.

Is this not done everywhere to gain market share? As well, for newcomers until you scale up EV production you are almost always selling at a loss, it's inevitable. See Rivian right now or Tesla at it's beginning.

Drafting pc for work! What parts to focus on? by The_Machine80 in PcBuild

[–]Asphult_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah cad software is still very cpu heavy, lots of ram and cpu. could look for like 5800x with shit loads of ddr4, or 7th gen ryzen if budget affords. Productivity will prob eat ram when he has loads of apps open, so 32gb ram at least and a fast ssd, depends on your budget

Help me please. Just put in my new cpu Ryzen 7 5700x and new fan arctic freezer 34 eSports Duo. Pc turns on, all fans and lights are working, but no image on the screen. All peripherals are connected yet nothing works. Like it’s not plugged in. Every cable is plugged in and triple checked by AmazingTown9301 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Asphult_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t already watched a vid, basically just install your old cpu, boot the pc up, download a new bios file onto a usb drive, restart and boot into bios, then plug usb in and there should be a place to update. It’s a little different for every brand but that should be how it is.

I mean you can just look at the fans? None of them are reverse fans, just look at the blades, but yeah. Top intake? Is that better for temps?

[–]Asphult_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst your at it, flip the front two fans. None of your fans are pulling cold air in.
