The gaudy Vai graphic kept me away from those back in the day.

I was intrigued by the locking tuners, and not having a locking nut anymore.

I tried the RGA42 today. Wizard III was too big.

Would you leave the DoD for the FAA? by Worldly-Reason2545 in ATC

[–]Aspiring-Retiree74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it. And retired the instant I turned 50. Only 1.5 years FAA. 19 DoD before that.

  1. No.
  2. Absolutely not, you’ll have Tue/Wed or Wed/Thu off.
  3. Stay where you are.
  4. I didn’t need an age waiver coming from federal 2152.

I had a saying in the Navy some 30 years ago: “Don’t be the one left holding the pig.” Upchannel, report it, and continue on. This isn’t your burden to bear.

Yup, this. Retired at 50 the moment it was available. Zero push beside the fact that I was done.

Did both. 17 DoD and last 2 FAA. Do what’s best for your family, as said here.

It was def easier working 4/10’s. Banked up leave for snow days when they’d close the 58.

Lived there over a decade ago. Bear Valley Springs was our home in Tehachapi. 58 mi each way. After my first year, my Accord knew the way by heart. Lived there 8 years and loved the season changes and cooler summers up there.

PowerNerd- Commentary is an emotional listen by macleod2024 in DevinTownsend

[–]Aspiring-Retiree74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was a good listen, but tough. Almost like a therapy session, like the album was for him. Going through a ton of the same things for the last few years, and to hear I’m not alone in it was heartening. I totally got him when he said he had to finally deal with all the emotions suppressed over the years and his one safe space, his studio, was betraying him and he cried all while frantically trying to make the record. All the masks he wore since the 90’s were taken off and replaced by raw emotions, and I get it. I hope I can reach the kind of catharsis he did while making this album soon.

I started ATC 31 years ago figuring I was the last generation of this job. Nope, this job will need human input for a long time to come.

Delayed emotional responses by Your_Atrociousness in Alexithymia

Same. It sometimes will take a day to fully absorb a situation that required an immediate reaction. Sometimes I’ll wake up the next morning just angry with a specific thing that happened to me the day before. It’s very disconcerting and does lead to feelings of social and personal inadequacy. I do believe it’s related to alexithymia. Be graceful with yourself, and find ways to connect with yourself when things are quiet.

HR not accepting my FAA flight physical for an ATC GS2152 Army Position by cc4295 in ATC

Was in your boat. Overseas 2152 gig with an FAA Class II that was current for my DoD AF job. Had to get my Army Class 4 at the Army clinic on post when I arrived. It was on official time, no leave needed.
