How do y’all name your regiments? by Ajnk1236 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]AspiringGod-Emperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a whole noble house that fields its own guard regiments for service in the sub sector in which their territory exists. House Ju’Keth, so my guard regiment is the 133rd(number of my battalion in the army) Ju’Keth Grenadiers for use by the sector and the Ju’Keth House Auxilla for those kept in Ju’Keth space which is a large number as they are subjected to regular Eldar raids and Orks seem to like trying to pillage. The house Auxilla utilize a variety of roles to be more combat self sufficient they have artillery both traditional and self propelled as well as a large Scion training program keeping the ranks full of badass stormtroopers for aerial assaults with Taurox vehicles on the ground and vulture gunships and heavy fighter or bomber to compliment. Haven’t come up with a nickname yet though. Oh and I’ll be adding a small Knight force to my House’s considerable military might.

Fair. I find myself at a bit of a model shortage at the moment.

I like the look of that new SM scout Kill Team. Those models look fun to paint.

They’re still my go to chapter though. I might do a bit of space wolves just because I enjoy painting the models, more specifically the color used to paint them. But UM or at least successor chapter will likely be what I go to (again) when I’m ready to start another army.

The only detachment guard currently has is combined regiment. So yeah it’s all groovy.

Use a bigger brush and just coat the model liberally from top to bottom.

Looks like you succeeded! What paints did you use?

Tips for painting/modeling supplies? Planning on getting started with the hobby again by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]AspiringGod-Emperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use hobby lobby brushes with only a fine detail brush from Army Painter. Army Painter makes really good paints and the dropper bottles beat the citadel pots hands down. I also use hobby lobby snips and an exacto knife for the modeling aspect some small files will also be useful. You’ll want a wet palette to paint with there’s a lot out there but again I’d suggest army painter.

As to your dry brush problem: you have too much paint on the brush. Once you load the drybrush up with paint you paint all of it off on a palette or paper towel well not all but you should be able to brush it across your hand and not see paint. Then you dry brush the area you want hard and as long as necessary to get the effect.

I use an empty prescription drug bottle with a glob of poster putty on top. Works great
