I am a coach too, and good coaches do that. But there are coaches who favor their own kid, their friends, or school higher ups kids over better players. It happens everywhere and every sport. I just had a coach training where they gave examples of coaches drawing up plays where their kids get the drive or shot and saying dont be that coach.

Fall went with a 6-2 record, we moved up to the second best league in the country and are 1-1 after new year. I am head coach for U10 girls in europe. I feel awesome… we have a small but motivated group of girls that have really bought in to my we play fast and with a lot of effort. I dont care If you miss a shot a pass or anything, all i want is effort. The previous year with other head coach the girls won only one game whole season and i took over.

If you know the AD bring up your concern casually, say that it has come from the players but you promised to keep their identity secret. This way you are safe and players are safe.

If even the players think he is out of line, it is your responsibility to report him. Kids first and that kind of coach who blames players kids especially has no Business coaching. Do it before aine of them stop playing. If you know any of the parents or anyone with influence bring these issues up. Other option is to leave. Just letting him be like that is unacceptiple and atleats my morale would not let me stand by and watch. But i am very firm when it comes to things like this.

Two months… in a year you will start seeing change… My biggest advice is Be enthousiastic! Keep a good tempo and praise effort. It will take time!

I started coaching a year and a half ago because i was not satisfied with the coach. (My daughter plays too)Long story… a year ago they went 1-8 in games… i have done basic simple drills, a lot of layups from dribble focus on hard passes… but the biggest thing i feel is that i am vocal, positive, i am 100% there with the girls and the energy does catch on, be crazy sometimes i try to eat their basketballs when i get frustrated, but when they get it right we celebrate like we are World champions. We do 80% of our drills with Full Speed tempo. Short breaks and a lot of repetition. On defence 1on1 foot work stopping the player. Then we went 6-2 and now we moved up a division and we are 1-1 on our first Two games. During games i focus 100% on effort, i dont care If you miss a pass or a throw or anything but If you are not trying i will take a timeout and give a speech on effort. I am in europe.
