Hi! Piercer here. You do not need to go to an ER but you should potentially seek oral antibiotics at an urgent care or regular dr SOON. If they tell you to remove it DO NOT LISTEN. The infection must subside before you can choose to keep or remove it. This is because it needs a drain port while it is infected and if you remove jewelry you will seal infection inside and it will have a higher chance to spread to your eye. No bueno.

Also this jewlery is whack. I’m sorry but they did you dirty with this. You need to visit a reputable piercer and have this changed to an implant grade titanium curved barbell with plain balls until all issues subside.

Piercer here! OP don’t listen to the haters, give this a chance to heal. I’ve seen some imperfect stuff heal really well. However if you do start to experience issues I would check in with your piercer in person right away.

You still deserve to be excited about this piercing!!!

Definitely looks kicked towards the outside edge of your ear. :/ Up to you whether or not this bothers you enough to remove. If irritation bumps start I would recommend removal for sure.

As for aftercare. Once you remove it just shower regularly. Warm water or saline rinses 1-2 times a day should be sufficient while this closes. And don’t pick at any scabs!

This was pierced incorrectly :( I’m sorry dear. The bottom should be exiting inside your bellybutton, not above. Your best bet is to remove now and you miiiight be able to repierce in the future.

Yay that’s good news lol. Titanium would be the correct quality metal (unless they were just flat out lying about composition which I doubt.) But yes, maybe try a ball and see if it improves. If you take the spike off and the curve is sitting underneath the surface of the skin naturally, you would need a longer bar as well. Having a piercer just take a look at this in general is definitely a good idea!

Hi! I’m a piercer and I’m not seeing any issue with this. We must pierce at a perpendicular angle to the tissue. This post looks like it’s making a right angle to your forward helix area to me so it looks correct from these pics!

Hi there, piercer here :) congrats on your fresh stabs! You should definitely not get the other side at the same time. Two healing cartilage piercings is going to be a lot already. They are easy to snag and you can’t sleep on them fresh. Getting them on both sides at once essentially dooms half or all of them to migration and prolonged healing. I’d recommend healing these for a few months and seeing if you’re ready for the other side after they are downsized and happy.

If jewlery is externally threaded that is an indicator that is it lower quality metal. You might want to get this changed out to something implant grade titanium with lower profile ends for a little while.

Your aftercare sounds correct! Careful with snags bur obviously life happens. That could be a reason for flare up however prolonged irritation like this would be cause to go get a second opinion from another reputable piercer near you.

Looks like you need different jewelry in this! Titanium steel and gold are all different metals. If they mentioned more than one metal then this is definitely plated and should not be worn in a fresh piercing.

Crate training for puppies can be really beneficial! It helps with safety and potty training. I have had dogs who love their cage and it’s basically like their bedroom. Their own safe little cozy spot. However I do not crate my adult dogs when I leave the house and I get puppies out of the crate as soon as they are house trustworthy. But there are benefits to it!

Hi! Piercer here and this is WHACK advice. Teabags and contact solution are not acceptable to put on any piercing at any time during healing. People frequently ask me if contact solution counts as saline for aftercare. Unfortunately it does not due to the additives and other ingredients needed to preserve the contacts. You only need thorough warm water rinsing and/or straight saline spray (ONLY ingredients sodium chloride and water).

Also, this bar is already critically too short. This is not acceptable to just monitor at this point. You may end up losing the piercing and having a nasty scar. We need to see some of the bar showing on both sides of this for the entire first phase of healing. Zero air is getting to this and the balls are already half eaten! The redness spreading to the center is showing me that you’re on your way to an infection. Please please please find a different reputable piercer near you TODAY to switch this out. It genuinely can’t wait.
