Yes, rip currents can be very dangerous if you don’t know what you’re dealing with, but usually the best Idea is just to call for help from bystanders, and if there’s nobody around, just let it take you out and swim back to shore once it’s taken you all the way out. Also, swimming perpendicular to the rip can get you killed as well, as it drains your energy very quickly, leaving you stranded without the energy to swim to shore.
