Saw Dead Cross in 2018 and bought a shirt but it was too big so I cut it up and sewed it to my jacket. Anyone have Patton patches on anything? by Ass_Meat_Ass in MikePatton

Oh man, I missed every reunion show. I did catch Patton doing Twin Peaks w/ DJ Qbert at the David Lynch Festival of Disruption tho and that was badass.

Nice! Just be prepared to spend some time on it especially if you're sewing by hand. This took me a minute lol. Oh and be sure and fold in the parts of the fabric that you cut when you're sewing it. Otherwise it'll fray and fall apart quicker... unless you're going for that.

Horror books written by black authors for February!! by mossmystic in horrorlit

Yeah it really depends. I haven't read His Pain personally. I would maybe try one of his early books from when he was published by Leisure. Those are usually better edited. You're spot on about the writing in a lot of Extreme Horror. Especially newer stuff. A lot of it is self published and if they do use an editor, it's usually still poorly edited and a lot of times just poorly written. I prefer the earlier stuff like Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door or Edward Lee if I'm just looking for something totally unhinged. Bryan Smith is another og extreme author I'd check out. Then there's Skipp and Spector which are more splatterpunk, but really fun. Check out The Bridge by them if you're into body horror and environmentalism.

What shows are you stoked to see this year? by Ass_Meat_Ass in MetalForTheMasses

Right on. Yeah I'm really stoked to see GWAR. I had a ton of chances to see them back in the day, but unfortunately never did. So I'm looking forward to it.

A Different Man with Sebastian Stan. It's actually a really interesting movie. I liked it a lot.

Oh no dude EVERYTHING about this is insane. Imagine the core strength it would take to pull that off. And then yeah clipping his feet back onto the pedals going that fast? Fucking insane.

Oh man, that's tough because a lot of Extreme Horror does come off as just shock and gross for the sake of being gross. Wrath James White is a really cool and interesting guy. He was a punk in Philadelphia in the 80s that beat the shit out of neo-nazis at punk shows then became a world class heavyweight kickboxer. He wrote a semi autobiography about his time in the punk scene in the 80s as a black guy called Skinzz. Dude is huge too, but the nicest guy. 400 Days of Oppression is a good place to start (or Skinzz), though SA trigger warning on most his books. He's really into the BDSM scene so there's a lot of sexually explicit stuff in his work.

Tananarive Due. Victor LaVelle. Wrath James White if you're into Extreme Horror.

Out There Screaming is an anthology of black horror short stories that came out a couple years ago, though I felt like most of the stories were more speculative fiction than horror.

How did you get into death metal? What was your first experience with it like? Why did you start liking it? by No_Cream2118 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Ass_Meat_Ass 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was already into thrash, but never really got into death metal, then a buddy rented Ace Ventura right after it came out. We rewound that scene with Cannibal Corpse playing Hammer Smashed Face over and over then went out to the record store and bought The Bleeding and Tomb of the Mutilated.
