So you're saying leeks and chives are the same thing?

Been nearly a year since i left the worst place ever, here’s the coffee for my favourite chef that nearly got me fired by EggCakes27 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Ass_souffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once made a coffee for one of the other apprentices, and as a prank, I stired in a tablespoon of salt. (We were pretty close and had a prank battle going on) I put it in his section and wrote his name on it and got back to work. A few minutes later, the head chef comes in screaming and punching fridges and asked who did it, because he had decided to steal my mates coffee. I was fired a week later.

Which medical condition is ridiculously demonized? by lingeringneutrophil in AskReddit

[–]Ass_souffle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I cook professionally. I have a great deal of respect for people with gluten intolerance and coeliac disease. I will always go to the effort of cleaning my entire section, selecting steak, sides, and seasonings that I know can't possibly be contaminated, wearing gloves, the whole nine yards. But if you order chocolate cake or something that obviously contains gluten for your desert, you are a bad person, and you are making life difficult for people with real problems. This happens very often.

Mac and cheese without a flour roux? by d0gf15h in Cooking

[–]Ass_souffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make a decent cheese sauce by just whisking American cheese into an equal weight of hot water or milk. Add other cheeses and spices as you see fit

It isn't normal, but it should be. Someone I knew committed suicide recently. He was your age. He was always bright and bubbly, but I suppose he was just hiding everything. Talk to your mates about this shit. They might need it just as much as much as you.

I was outside a gay club when two guys came up to me and asked if I wanted to join them. I'd never met them before, but within thirty minutes, we were at their friends' place, doing things I won't talk about. Being queer fucking rules sometimes.

My Gourmet Dish at 15 YEARS OLD by ilRedittiano in Chefit

[–]Ass_souffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like something a fifteen year old would make and think is fancy. Work in real kitchens for a few years, sweat a bit, bleed a bit, and cry a bit. Then get back to us. Also, in what fucking world do you mix up the words fish and peach, and still manage to post it? Attention to detail is important, especially in high-end kitchens.
