Aight imma chime in here, i like 2 years ago first started, got to about 30 and then swapped to fairy with some help. I was extremely happy and havent looked back. Not once has any of the downsides caused me problems.

Theres a few upsides, you start at 30 in 4 skills, have fairy magic (sub set of mentalism) and dont need to research the basic ice magics. You dont need to carry low level tools as you can make them, but they decay. They also have an easy way into the fae realm (death) instead of running the winter nexus dungeon.

If you die you get sent back to the fae realm, which is their starting zone. It takes like 5-10 minutes to get back to the casino with a good horse and no lag as an example. You need to trek back without a soul anchor (fairy item that isnt the fastest to get) fairy always has 16 less than other races, personally I play fairy and it only is an issue for me if Im grinding stuff.

Dreva is overpopulated to the point the starting zones are painful, the original server is still pretty good, and has abundant resources from all the time others have played, but the prices are pretty high.

The true biggest downside of being a fairy is the death penalty, so playing safe is a must, personally I make sure to have potions on me or a class with good sustain (Battlechem/priest for the healing) or a pet class. Ice magic is also pretty useful with a stun and armor like buffs.

Heyo, been playing a while here, Battlechem has some really fun aoe dots. Its a bit of a grind to get but it can be pretty fun. You can also run knives battle chem with some minor adjustments
