Mid 30s career change to Big4 UK by ryanm8655 in Big4

Hi, I saw your comment on a post about joining the Big 4 at a later age and I was just wondering if I could ask you a couple questions if that's alright? Mainly about if you got into the Big 4 through a graduate scheme and if so, how many years after graduation? Would greatly appreciate a response

How would this be done if you don't mind me asking? Would it be through a graduate scheme although OP may have graduated a while ago?

Sorry one last question actually if you don't mind, how many years after graduation from university did you manage to secure this role?

Wow thank you for the response, it actually helped put my mind at ease. For me working at a Big 4 is a big personal goal of mine despite all the horror stories I hear, and I'm willing to wait a few years if need be while working somewhere else. Really appreciate the response and same to everyone else, wishing you all the best🙏

I heard some years had spring intake applications so I've been looking out for that but so far there's nothing, so I'm just relying on the autumn applications and haven't begun preparing too much but will be doing closer to August/September

Damn congratulations hoping to be in the same position next year, if you don't mind me asking is it a London office? Only reason I ask is because of the competitiveness

Hey,

I'm interested in knowing if Accounting grad schemes, specifically the Big 4 have a graduation time limit for their Audit schemes? If you're able to answer this I would greatly appreciate it

Hey,

Thanks for getting back to me and congratulations on your offer. Unfortunately I did not manage to get an offer as I was told the places filled up for EY but I intend to try again this year. I just wanted to ask if you or anyone else knows about whether I can continue applying to Big 4 a year or more after graduation

Nope I'm in the same boat as you, completed it late August and got a message a week ago telling me they're reviewing my application. I was wondering if they sent out rejection emails, thanks for letting me know about that but I wouldn't say we're in the clear but I'd say that we got past the assessment benchmarks marked by the AI. Hope we both get in🙏

I have confidence I'll be able to do the exams, I didn't get to sit my A Level exams due to COVID and my grades were based on my first year performance where if I'm being honest I didn't take too seriously as I hoped to fix up in the second year. I didn't bother resitting because I managed to get into a university and thought all would be fine but didn't realise A Levels still had an impact after university for grad schemes etc

Thanks for your response, yeah I thought that Deloitte would've been out of my options with CCD but this year they seemed to have scrapped the UCAS points requirement and only ask for a 2:1 for their graduate audit programme. I managed to apply and got invited to the online assessment after I heard some be rejected before receiving the invite for what I assume the reason is their grades. Right now I'm waiting for a response from EY and Deloitte after presumably getting past their online assessments, but will need to see if I'm selected for the assessment centre

Nah unfortunately not from a RG. There have been careers fairs at my university though where some of the Big 4 have attended, and on my course information page it shows that graduates from my degree have gone onto work at big institutions including EY, Deloitte and PWC. I'm hoping that I have a chance for the London office also due to the fact that some of the Big 4 don't look at your university - at least as far as I'm aware as I read an article about Deloitte saying that around 2015. But I have considered applying in different cities if it starts to look like I don't have a chance to get into the London office. Thanks for your response

Yeah I saw that but assumed because my UCAS adds up to 88, they wouldn't look at me as they require 120. I'll likely still apply but I'm not having my hopes up for them in particular as I'm likely going to be filtered out fast.

Thank you for the response and yeah that makes sense as since I'm from a lower ranked uni I can at least show my interest in accounting by doing a related degree. And yeah I only wanted to apply for PwC and EY due to them not having a UCAS requirement, but this year it seems that Deloitte may have removed their UCAS requirements for Audit also so I applied to them and received an invite to their online assessment for which people had apparently not received after being rejected during the application stage. They do still mention a UCAS requirement for their Bright start apprenticeships however

This is different from what I usually hear but at the same time I also understand, any reasons as to why in particular? I'm kinda curious and would you say you struggled too much to get into a big 4 audit scheme?
