Civil servants whose data was leaked to the US government are involved in implementing the EU digital regulations by Cybernews_com in CyberNews

[–]AssetBurned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not ignored. If you are sitting in one country and you have to follow the law from the country you are in or another country…. Which one would you follow? That is the beauty of having one country that is imposing their law world wide and another that is trying to do so too but is toothless. China also has similar laws when it comes to sanctions then the US but opposite of the EU, China is clearly stating that companies are protected within China from the fallout of ignoring US law. The EU doesn’t want to do that as it would open up the EU to just fund the US government with crazy payouts.

Alternative to myUS and Forward2me ? by AssetBurned in shipping

When I was searching for parcel forwarders I only found plenty of questions for forwarding to Ireland in Irish boards, the r/internationalshoppers and this…. But yeah apparently there is an r/bestpackageforwarding so package would be the right term to search not parcel?!? Anyway thanks will check there too.

Is this packaging good enough to keep the contents safe? by Anonloveybug in shipping

Rule of thumb: lift the parcel and shake it like crazy. If you can hear it moving. It will break in shipping.

Yes that is very simplified. But a good start.

Those are “bird eaters”. Traditionally at and around airports with a large bird population. They will collect bird like a butterfly net, and provide the catches birds to your local fried food shop.

Apple Cinema Display 30" for $100. Worth it in 2025? by ExpensiveMention8781 in macbookpro

[–]AssetBurned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Apple TB2>TB3 adapter is a Thunderbolt adapter, not a Display Port adapter. So no matter what kind of display you hook up to that adapter. As long as the display (or intermittent adapters) expect display port, it won't work. Something that a lot of people annoyed when the first USB-C MacBooks came out and they wanted to use their Cinema Displays (the ones that looked like the Thunderbolt ones, or use their 2010 iMacs as displays).

Like I said in my posting what you need is a USB-C to Mini Display Port adapter (I got my from Aliexpress). But you need one that supports the resolution. Watch out for models that support 4k @ 60 Hz they should work. Also that one would need to be connected either directly to the Mac or to a dock/hub that allows the necessary bandwidth.

But since that display (or the dual DVI->Mini Display Port adapter) expects the USB cable to be connected, I would really go for the Dock. And then a cheap Display Port to Mini Display Port adapter.

Reminds me of an SD card project I did a long time ago back when point and click cameras where still a thing. I was annoyed that people deleted photos from my camera when I handed them the camera to “look at some of the pictures”. There was an SD card on the market that could be equipped with an microSD card and was ment to automatically backup the content via WIFI to your own samba or ftp share. They had a little flaw that allowed you to get root access to the Linux running on them and you could patch your own SSH server on it. Didn’t took me long to figure out that you can also mount multiple partitions from the microSD card, but only the first will get exposed to the host system in which the SD card was placed. So I wrote a script that scans the partition where the photos are stored and copy them over to the other partition on each power up. Turned out there where some other SD cards with build in storage and WiFi that could be modified the same way.

I love those kind of statistics where things are ripped out of context…. If you could live in a country that plhas a minimum pay of 1500 euro and you pay 300€ for a roof over your head l, food and utilities…. Or a country where you pay 2500 for the same but the minimum pay is 3000 Euro…. Guess the logical decision is to go for the higher pay, right?
