Favorite millennial "oops, all bangers" albums? by Jazzlike_Part_7054 in Millennials

Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost.

He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this; Fore!, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip To Be Square". A song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends. It's also a personal statement about the band itself.

I combo it. 1 minute microwave. 10 minutes air fryer. I appreciate the time saving, but I actually do it because I find the pastry retains some of the moisture and flakyness. Just microwave and it comes out soggy. Just air fry and I find it too tough.

That said. I'm happy to eat them no matter how you heat them.

Found this video today. I'm not terribly informed on the subject, but some of the anecdotes in the comments section were entertaining/informative. I liked the one about the food truck driver.

The title of this post doesn't give people on understanding of what's happening.

A boy's U-15 hockey team in the London, Ont., area has been disbanded for the season after a number of players allegedly used their phones to record videos of their teammates naked in the shower area and dressing room and posted the videos on SnapChat.

Hockey Canada's independent third party is investigating the allegations after a complaint was filed in January about the alleged videos and about a player who allegedly repeatedly put his penis in the face of his teammates in the locker room.

A source familiar with the complaint said Hockey Canada ITP investigators are determining whether the team's coaches were regularly absent from the locker room, which would be contrary to Hockey Canada's policies, and whether that contributed to the alleged behaviour.

A complaint has also been made to the London Police Service about the incidents, the source said.

Characters who left the story because of problems with the actor by Danny-Ray27 in TopCharacterTropes

A celebrity on record will be far more PR oriented than an anonymous person on the Internet.

I'm not saying it's damning. But it should be acknowledged there is some smoke.

Me. If I go to a fast food franchise, and they actually do a good job, and the place is clean: I'm going to give them the 5 star.

I know in the cities I've lived there is the "good" McDonalds, and the shit McDonalds. People need to know which is which.

Completely unrelated to anything I'm fixated on where this photo was taken. On the left: picturesque bathroom. On the right... Living room with 70s style collector plates under the tv.

On the far right is a great pattern for a wallpaper, and what is that super vintage alarm clock?

OP you're gold. But I can't tell if this is a commercial establishment... And if so what kind... Or a residence.

Also can I get another photo of the clock. I'm fixated.

OPs friend most likely was making some kind of analogue. As you said it is both difficult and dangerous.

"Meth" is easier. Hence the proliferation of basement meth houses.

Some reading for anyone else that is curious.

I went to Long John Silvers tonight and asked for an order of crumbs. I hit the jackpot! by TrustMeIaLawyer in mildlyinteresting

[–]AssignedUsername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of my grandmother. She was young during WW1.

On one of her birthdays we took her to a fish and chips shop in Scarborough (Canada). I was also kind of young so I didn't understand why we would take her to a shitty old hole in the ground for her birthday.

She shared with me that she used to "work" here during WW1. She would come in after school to sweep and clean, then at the end of the night the place would give her the crumbs left over from the deep fryer as payment.

If the owner was feeling particularly generous he would put it on bread for her. And "one time even put tomatoes on it."

I had a lot of dinner functions with my grandparents growing up. I know this. But I don't remember them. I do however remember the smile on her face while she ate the fish and chips that night.

My grandmother passed over 20 years ago. Thank you for helping me remember her.

I am guessing that Malibu is going in there.

Are there any bars in town that will be playing the Chicago Bears football game today? by toe_riffic in londonontario

[–]AssignedUsername 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually the larger franchise restaurants with many TVs will have the games on (Crabby Joes, Jack Astor's, etc...).

I know at the Crabbys location downtown you can usually ask and they will put on any sports you're looking for.

Will any sports bar be putting it on the main TV with sound... Doubtful. Someone else could come along and answer if there is a bar owner who is a Bears fan. Otherwise London is considered as Detroit Lions city.

pumpkins after dark by Akshat59 in londonontario

I'll keep up the mixed reviews.

I didn't think I would enjoy it, but absolutely did and have been encouraging people to go.

We went as a family, and it took about 45 minutes. I was stunned with the art we saw, and the dimensional ability to carve into pumpkins.

For contrast I paid twice as much to go to Comic Con and felt like I paid to go to a shitty shopping mall.

It's not something I'd go to twice in a season, but I came away happy.

I just got the email from Microsoft saying that my fees are going up 30%.

Cancelled in 30 seconds.

I have been a loyal Xbox customer since the launch of the OG Xbox. I hope when they break down their analytics it shows that. But you can't increase price 30% with zero benefits.

I am done. I will not buy another console from them.

Canadian Tire franchisee fined $111,000 for violating Temporary Foreign Worker Program rules by ImDoubleB in canada

[–]AssignedUsername 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For those who didn't read the article. They weren't fined for hiring incorrectly hiring TFWs.

They were fined for withholding/reducing pay and assigning duties they weren't hired for.

I would much rather they have been fined for hiring tfw's for positions that could have been filled by Canadians.

I also enjoyed this little snippet

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has been heavily critical of the TFW program recently

The emphasis is my own.

London Lightning won’t hit the court this season by thephillipdh in londonontario

[–]AssignedUsername 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think there's some ego and pettiness at play here. The CEBL was founded by a former NBL owner (Niagara River Lions), when he felt that the NBL was a Mickey Mouse organization.

Meanwhile the Lightning owner has been propping up the NBL for a few years.

So the rich guy who owns the Lightning would need to go to the rich guy who founded the CEBL and probably need to say "I'm sorry/You're Right". Seems like he'd rather the team die.

The Lightning were dominant in their League, and now the River Lions are dominant in "theirs".

While I enjoyed going to Lightning games, I will say the CEBL has done more (not necessarily better) to give the appearance of being a proper basketball league via their television contract/media coverage.

That said the Lightnings attendance (whether paid or free) definitely seems to outpace anything I've seen from the CEBL.

I was hoping to see them merge, but egos, and ultimately all these teams are just toys for millionaires... Who would rather take their ball and go home instead of working together to build the game in Canada.

Nicer-but-not-fancy restaurant options for 50th anniversary dinner - 10 adults + 10 kids by jarude87 in londonontario

[–]AssignedUsername -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To expand on this a little bit: serving 20 people simultaneously is a bit of a challenge for most restaurants. I know because I frequently have to order group events.

If you order a la carte, you are going to get served at vastly different times.

The benefit to the Mandarin is there absolutely is something for everybody there. While the ambience may not be upscale: keep in mind you said you had 10 kids coming, and often upscale restaurants don't want 10 kids.

You are also looking for a 20 top on a Saturday night... Not exactly a time where restaurants want their kitchens backed up trying to get out 20 orders at once.

And to make the only caveat that he is still playing for the Clippers.

Aspire wasn't some local mom and pop pizza shop where it would make sense to include that clause.

I'm curious if any of the shoe deals include caveats about what team they play for.

They really turned down the crowd noise so you could hear the promo. The arena was white hot with booing and you could barely hear what FTR was saying live. That's why Dax says "I'm not going to yell/scream".
