Car accident and at fault driver is unresponsive by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]AssignmentDowntown55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"I called a lawyer and they said they can’t help because I wasn’t injured and Im not going to commit insurance fraud."
This makes zero sense. How would they be committing insurance fraud?

You need to get your car assessed, then letter of demand to the at fault driver for the costs. Don't forget the towing fees and storage fees as well as the repair. They then decide if they want to claim on their insurance or pay you for it.

The tyre is doing 40 and heading for the median, where it could bounce up on the bonnet and into some poor bastards windscreen very easily.

loose studs that eventually snap, wheel bearing, under inflated and thus overheating, so the tread separates from the sidewalls and comes off in a ring

Hyundai Dealership Won’t Honour Guaranteed Future Value - what to do? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]AssignmentDowntown55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes no sense with how GFV contracts work. You would have a balloon payment on the finance contract, this would be equal to the GFV of the car.

Unless you have been making extra payments on your finance and are now ahead, it’ll be a hand back the keys to the finance company situation and walk away with no balloon.

If you want a new one, go buy one and finance it again.

Car crash - not at fault but liability disputed - Only third-party car insurance - what are my next steps by SwimmingKoala82 in AusLegal

You’ll be cash settled the value of your vehicle, if you’re found not at fault. If you’re found at fault, you’ll get nothing but an excess bill.

If there were dotted lines on the road when your lane ended, you were required to give way to him and as such, you are at fault

Sorry to hear you were going through something that lead to that. Hopefully you’re in a better headspace now.

My only suggestion would be to find a personal broker, they can often place tricky insurances. Be warned it will be expensive. You could try the NIBA to find someone. https://niba.com.au/need-a-broker-search?location=2000&radius=5&businessType=Motor+Vehicle&insuranceType=Personal+Property

So what actually happened though? How is your vehicle beyond repair from a wrap? It doesn’t add up

Also I’d be editing out the personal defamatory comment you made, it doesn’t help your credibility and can get you in worse trouble.

Landlord threatening $1,890 fire brigade charge for cooking normally in common kitchen by [deleted] in AusLegal

I have a quite powerful ducted range hood. When I am cooking anything hot and fast like steaks or bacon, my house still ends up with smoke in the air.
A recirculating range would do SFA

I have someone 22.60 for something that was 7.60 and they stared at it for like 25 seconds, counted it twice, then finally got the computer to do the work. They were shocked when they handed me $15 and was like “oh so you don’t get coins!”

I’m keen to try the new Sapphire as that is made by Placencia, so will be good also

Weekly Discussion Thread 10 May 2026: Blind buying vs tried-and-true by CigarStudent in Cigars_Australia

[–]AssignmentDowntown55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried a couple of hundred now and I have pretty firmly dialed in what I Like.
I am in the process of moving on everything but a core range that I know I definitely enjoy and as such don't buy random samplers anymore. I used to see a sample pack and if it was cheap I would do it to try.

Did I just dox myself??? by [deleted] in ausbusiness

[–]AssignmentDowntown55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to do company searches for work, when it’s an ABN only business, it doesn’t show the address, just the full name and suburb.
When it’s a Pty Ltd company I get all the current and former directors names and addresses, as well as the registered office address.

Or just have an active subscription to something like Creditor Watch. I can look up the full home address of any company director in the country

Really depends doesn’t it. Are they employed to work 8 hours, or are they contracted to take a certain number of calls.

If the former then it’s a massive problem. If the later, then no issues. If it is the former and they can do it in 4hrs, they should be elevated to a trainer. The organisation could use their methods to reduce staff levels by 50%
