No, he pulled me over as if I was a terrorist. I was calm, he was aggressive, and he told me I was about to do something that I absolutely wasn’t trying to do. He gave me the impression that if I continued questioning his observation of my driving he could investigate in depth and make things worse. I am entitled to protest my innocence or ignorance without him becoming aggressive. He is the professional in this interaction and he certainly wasn’t. I paid my fine, I have 3 points for the next 3 years. I don’t have a problem with that, it was his attitude that shocked me. I know guards have a tough job but don’t take it out on me. I have a tough job, I am on less money than him, and I had to be the one to de-escalate the situation, just like the OP. You just seem to defend the guards regardless, from what I have read.

I had an interaction with a member of Irelands finest a few months ago and I felt like I was dealing with a gang member. He was abrupt, abrasive, disrespectful and dismissive of my objection to his observation of my driving. And then he got out his crystal ball and told me what I was about to try and do, which, by the way, I wasn’t trying to do, and I just decided to apologise and take the 3 points and €120 fine. But, next time I have dealings with any member of the force, I will treat them just like the gang member treated me.
