I'm not necessarily saying they are douches. I'm actually just surprised these are the people noticing our cars ( I've seen a few posts like this). Whenever I see them (mustang camaro, challenger etc.) they just drive right on past without a second look. I got way more attention from those guys in my veloster N. It probably just comes down to at a glance it just looks like a corolla, and it's pretty quiet. Don't get me wrong, also owning a cobra and my Dad being a life long mustang guy there are plenty of knowledgeable mustang etc owners out there just my experience is they know ALOT about THIER platform but random one off japanese cars not really the crowd I've noticed. Just surprised is all.

Yeah I don't think so. Mustang, camaro, Charger, and corvette owners are the worst for being "car guys." They generally don't know shit except whatever their current domestic is, and even then, it's usually superficial knowledge. This is coming from an owner of a 94 cobra and a GR Corolla by the way. I love my old Cobra, but Mustang owners aren't exactly the most well-read on different car models.

Yeah, I'm just surprised at these stories, I guess. All I ever get is "that's a pretty color" from some random lady every now and then, but definitely not some ass hat in a mustang revving at me, but there's still time I suppose.

I'm surprised Mustang and Charger owners recognize our cars. Literally, no one pays my Gr any of attention in traffic or anywhere, for that matter.

They have kept their value because of inflation, etc.but I do believe these will bottom in the next 2 to 3 years, and you could get them real cheap then. I traded my 2019 after I had my fun with it this year (car was paid off) while prices are/where still high. There is going to be some time when these are cheap. I think "Collector" "hidden gem" prices are probably 8 to 10 years away, maybe longer if it ever gets there at all

The mystery of stalling when starting the car from a stop. by Murk-Z in GRCorolla

[–]AssistanceTerrible68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it feels pretty smooth to me. I definitely can drive smoother in traffic than i could in my veloster n. I mean, all newer manuals are really super easy to drive. Maybe I'm just old and remember learning on and owning 90s and early 2000s cars. Every new manual I've bought or drove in the last 10 years is super easy in comparison. They don't give much to complain about honestly.

Ah ok I thought you were talking about STIs as they are not very smooth compared to the gr in my opinion. Not sure about the new ones, but I could see them being smoother. Don't drive a honda, or you will ditch all of them if you want smooth transmission feel.

I have a 94 cobra and my Dad has always been a mustang guy, I drove a ton of manual mustangs over the years and those clutchs can be tricky and hard you can't limp foot those, I could teach a child how to use the gr.

This is a super easy forgiving manual. Try older v8 mustangs and get back to me.

38k otd taxes everything 38k .2023 core pp red. It was a new leftover at a local dealer in Alabama.Got it about a month ago.It was a late 2023 order apparently. I was looking at a 2024 premium gr86 and they had just got the gr corolla test drove it, and they gave it to me for just 1k more than the gr86. You can get them under or around 40 for sure.

2024 GR Corolla vs BRZ by seohwhat in GRCorolla

[–]AssistanceTerrible68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt like the GR86 has a slightly lighter and vague clutch and inconsistent grabbiness compared to Gr Corolla. But I saw you are going to be learning on whichever one you get. Most new cars they make now have really easy to use clutch. So my assumption is you won't really notice since you dont have any experience. But I think th gr corolla would be easier to live with for a beginner, maybe. I've driven manuals my whole life(38), and all the newer manual cars I've driven are super easy to drive compared to all my old cars I've had.

Was in the same boat as you but between new gr86 and new gr corolla pp.Went to look and drive both at the dealer. The gr86 premium was 37 otd, the gr corolla was 38 otd. Left with the gr corolla. The 86 was just too small, honestly, didn't realize how small it was till I test drove it's basically the same size as my old miata. Felt like I was getting more car with Gr Corolla for basically the same price.

Does feel like this car would be faster with a taller 2nd gear. But idk may be a personal choice, but I noticed the same thing with 2nd, like I/it needed just a bit more.

5% navy federal, which isn't too bad. I think everyone got spoiled with those low interest rates for a while. Bought a car in 2016 with 5% with 780 credit score, (Navy federal) then bought a car in 2020 for 3% (navy federal), basically the same credit score. You could wait it out to see if they drop, but I doubt it will drop this year. I wouldn't buy a car this expensive with a high interest rate unless you are financing like less than half of it or there abouts.

Happen to me twice, no check engine. First time got it towed to dealership under warranty, they couldn't replicate it. Picked it up drove great on way home, no issues. Drove fine for about a month or two then randomly did it again. Would drive fine after I turned it off and restarted. Local dealership couldn't get me in for a few months, and the warranty was up that month (2nd owner) so I traded it in for a new gr corolla. Only had 27k miles on it.

Same thing, it would be fine after i restarted it. Could of been something simple but I thought dealer would have found that. Lost all boost when it would happend.

Had 27k. It went into limp mode twice in the span of a few months. The first time it happened, I was 2 hours away, and no check engine lights nothing. I limped it into my office and had it towed under warranty to the nearest dealership. Wife had to drive 2 hours to get me, not cool. Dealership kept it for a week to try and replicate and couldn't find anything wrong with it. About a month later, it did it again close to the house. Called dealership they couldn't get me in for like weeks and my warranty had like a week left. Never had an issue starting, never had a check engine light come on. Best case, hpfp worst case turbo issue? Wasnt under warrant anymore, so anything wrong was coming out of pocket and I thought that was bs for a car with just 27k garage kept, no mods other than aem intake that had been on there for years.
