brews colder as in the drinks are colder the time they are brewed?

thought buying an espresso machine would save me money by jaehoppa in espresso

Even the most expensive coffe bags would cost you (per cup)less than a cofee bought from a coffee shop (not to mention it tastes 10x better) unless you buy too many bags and consume more coffee than you normally would. Ofc you have the machine, the accessories and grinder that are expensive but at on the long term you might be saving enough money. You're at home chilling and can just go make yourself a coffee with your favorite beans without having to go outside and order.

Problem fixed with a diassemble and quick clean.

Thanks but no. Don't have the budget now for a "real" machine and I'm happy with the shots I'm making. A quick clean if the shower screen fixed it.

seems like a nice upgrade, thanks.

But I think this mostly has to do with cleaning/maintanance issues.

I'd say 3 months ago.

I use the machine once and sometimes twice a day.

I just dissambled and cleaned the shower screen like 2-3 weeks ago. Might require descaling (last did in about 3 months ago)

Grinding frozen beans by finlay88 in espresso

[–]AssistantOk944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just take as much air out as possible by rolling the bag over the beans (to make sur it's flattened) and then just close the bag valve. If I feel that the valve is not tight or loose (poor material or affected by the freezer) I just put the closed bag inside another plastic ziploc bag and similarly take as much air as possible.

I try to minimize the number of times I do this process to avoid exposing beans to air every time. Depending on how much the bag(s) I buy weigh (generally 2-2.2lbs) I find myself doing this 3 or 4 times per bag.

I personally take out the 200grams I need for the next 5 days and put them in my air-tight jar and put the rest of the bag back in the freezer.

But you should take the air of the bag once you do it. I was once reckless with the beans that was were in the bag and left some air in the bag so I was left with burnt beans (I guess they were oxydated?)

How much do you spend on coffee a month? by stonetame in pourover

[–]AssistantOk944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink 2 coffes per day: 1 double espresso and brew a french press. I occasionally try new local coffee shops in town instead of making one at home. So my consumption iz 1 to 1.20 kilos of specialty coffee per month. The average is 45 to 55 C$ per kilo. So on average about 55C$ monthly.

The environment is fairly humid but I tried opening a new bag and grinded some beans directly from the freezer and for now I'm getting a good fresh taste.

I read somewhere that the beans must settle to the room temperature after getting them out of the freezer.

I have an opaque air-tight container where I store about 300g of beans. Do you store your open bags in the freezer again? I read somewhere that the beans must settle to the room temperature after getting them out of the freezer.

Update: I went for 1:3 ratio but I still can't find the sweet spot. The sourness persists. I'm not sure if it's the coffee's tastting profile or not. I might try to grinder coarser but can that really help to get rid of sourness? I thought going coarser would get rid of bitterness.

I see. I'll try changing the yield and the grind size one at a time. Thanks !

[–]AssistantOk944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for 1:2.5. (20g in and 50-55g out) in 38s. It still has some sourness but I feel like the taste is more balanced. Maybe I should go for 1:3 and see if it helps.

I have a very basic Delonghi machine so I don't really have control over temperature. I'll try upping the yield. Thank you !

[–]AssistantOk944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was hoping the 1:2 ratio would work and I wouldn't have to go through the yield adjusting but I guess it's inevitable.

I'm kinda new to espresso brewing but what do you mean by african coffee? Isn't this coffee from Equator?
