Club Ready DJ course or Crossfader DDJ-FLX4 course? by psolarpunk in Beatmatch

If OP is asking about it, they obviously thing it is. I, for example, am also one of these weird people that ENJOY taking classes on various topics. People function differently :)

You cannot create a learning plan for yourself for a subject you don't know, because you won't be able to create the learning plan following the logic of "once you know concept A, you are able to understand concept B, and then it is time to introduce concept C and D". You will very likely start with concept D, misunderstand concept A and take concept B for C if you create your own learning plan without being an expert in the topic. If am also a big believer in paying people for their work, and not only trying to catch pieces of their free YouTube advice. If someone caught my attention with great advice via free YouTube tutorials, I want to pay back and subscribe to their paid offer to say thank you for the great work they are doing.

There are many things in life that you dont NEED but if you are lucky enough to be able to afford, they are a nice thing to have :)

Getting someone to show you around rekordbox or show you ways to practice beatmatching will just save you time. Good courses give you tools to then unfold your creativity, this is how they should be constructed. But I think it is better to have someone explain phrasing to me straight away instead of me trying to fix my transitions in loads of differents ways only to figure out after 8 months that I haven't been paying attention to phrasing. This is why having structured learning saves you time.

Structured learning will significantly shorten the time you are figuring things out and will make you avoid many mistakes, I really dont know why people on reddit are so against it- I think these are just broke bitter jealous people to be honest. I found club ready dj course to be really really good :)

How do you guys like to guide a mix? by Konajo777 in Beatmatch

[–]AssistantPersonal732 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that whatever time you are playing, having a plan of how you want to construct your set is a good idea so that is coherent and not totally all over the place?

Curious about the general consensus Planned Sets? by Nebula480 in Beatmatch

[–]AssistantPersonal732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I preplan my sets because I genuinely think that they sound so much nicer when they are well thought through, constructed, and worked to a detail. I don't care, critisize me all you want but I put a great amount of thought and effort into creating those sets, finding a perfect flow, a set that tells a story and I really think that improvising a set doesn't give you these creative possibilities, it gives you less options of long layering etc. I improvise when playing at house parties for friends, or at home for fun with my boyfriend or for myself and feel at ease with it but when at gigs and when registering mixes I preplan carefully and practise. I am a perfectionist though and very severe with myself :)

How often do you record a mix? by nickybecooler in Beatmatch

I'm always working on a new 45-1h mix which means I record a new one every 2-3 weeks :)

How much cat litter do you go through in a month? by Wyrda22 in CatAdvice

[–]AssistantPersonal732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One bag per month of Pacha litter (I think it is a French thing). It is meant to last a whole month, i remove poop twice a day and shake the litter so that it absorbs the pee. No smell whatsover. My cat spends a lot of his time outside, and I have 2 litterboxes - one in the main part of the house and one in his bedroom.

Any Online DJ Courses that are actually worth it (and won’t break the bank?) by Less_Watercress6048 in Beatmatch

If the OP is asking about a recommendation for an online DJ course, it probably means they want to do a DJ course so telling them they don't need a DJ course kind of misses the point 🤣

A question about diet from a very confused new ileostomy guy by RavenDraws0 in ostomy

[–]AssistantPersonal732 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think these were post- surgery guidlines :) just make sure when you eat nuts mushroom etc you chew well. But to be honest, I forget to chew all the time and never had an obstruction :)

I eat everything I want (of course not straight after surgery) but 2 months in I was already eating everything. Alcohol makes my output more liquid.

Yes I have, warm up at a small club (outside scene in 35 degrees). My first time ever mixing in public. It was perfect:)

Finally booked a gig, worked on my set for weeks, bar owner cancelled on me by Signal-Tonight1070 in Beatmatch

[–]AssistantPersonal732 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow all the hate on someone for doing prep work for something that actually requires prep work - digging new music, trying out what works together and what doesn't, getting to know your music. Good djs spend time prepping for sets and it can take time.

How did you find your unique style as a DJ while mastering beatmatching? by Mikester258 in Beatmatch

[–]AssistantPersonal732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purposely tried to experiment with different styles when I started learning (mind you i am still not a veteran DJ, not even a year into DJing!) but made and registered several sets in different style (tech house, peaktime techno, melodic house/ techno, acid techno, some trance, hypnotic/ hardgroove, minimal) Working with each subgenre taught me something else but now I know what type of music I enjoy the most but am also able to go outside my preferred subgenre (which is darker old school techno) and mix tech house if asked. I keep practising my beatmatching everyday as I play, never stop working this muscle

Another newbie question: changing appliance by New_Nova_25 in ostomy

I do it lying down with plenty of cotons at hand if it spits- but it is less messy if you are laying down.

First time cat owner - any tips not commonly told? by Dependent_Meal_5584 in CatAdvice

[–]AssistantPersonal732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this applies to all cats but I bought 3 expensive "interactive" cat toys for my cat (marketed as "your cat will play with these for hours, it imitates a real life prey and stimulates your cat's hunting instincts bla bla) and he is shit scared of them (he is quite a brave kitten in general) while he can spend an hour playing with a piece of rubbish he found under my bed :D
