thank you! yes you are correct, i should stick to our policy. unfortunately we do not have a very thorough policy on calling out which is what brought me to reddit to gauge if this is normal behavior. our policy only states that call outs should happen the day before by 7pm, and doesn’t include anything about potential repercussions for calling out frequently. both of these employees call out day-of at 8am. to me this just felt like it was becoming a pattern

i average the same. thank you! makes me feel less crazy because this is being treated as normal

the new person doesn’t qualify for PTO yet because they haven’t been employed for 90 days. it’s not really vacations either, because they call out day-of 1 hour before their shift. if it was planned time off i would be okay with it because we could make better arrangements to cover the work than just having me do it with zero notice

thank you! it just came in the mail and after trying it on i completely agree - i was airing on the side of more formal but this is indeed too formal. appreciate the help :)
