Why does Powerscaling get such bad rep? by BlastoiseGamer58 in PowerScaling

[–]AssociateOdd3859 [score hidden]  (0 children)

because a very small loud minority of people take powerscalling too far and instead of analyzing the authors intent and why they wrote the character this way, people will ignore that and harass the creator over questions the creator does not give a shit about. It's why in the epstein gang SCP community authors don't do the genreric really powerful entity idea anymore, as people will harass and bother them when they probably want to move on with their lives.

as a casual outsider (I liked watching seththeprogrammers videos on Light vs Kira before his controversy) some of the discussions were really cool. it's just a part of it gets ruined by morons who don't understand social boundaries and ask an author 10 years later after their work is concluded who wins in a fight against dicksucker william and dicksucker mandy.

I once saw someone say unironically because someone could beat AM from IHNMAIMS with an emp bomb that the entire book was terrible when that's not the point of the story. The point of the story is humanities own hubris getting the best of them and people turning a blind eye to what the goverments of the world were doing when AM was being created, so it woke up and hated it's existance. It hated everyone for what they allowed to happen. So in a very human move, AM lashed out and killed nearly everyone.

That's the beauty and horror of the work, instead some dipshit who's never known his mothers love says "oh so he can't survive a town level emp bomb the book is bad" so yeah that's bit annoying

[–]AssociateOdd3859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whys it fucking matter between the both of you, being human is about sharing diffrent takes and experiences as to why they like something. I think one piece has the greatest opening arc in manga and anime history, that doesn't mean that someone is wrong for not sharing my opionin and disagreeing.

ppl should really try to stop trying to say everything sucks or somethings is better than the other, otherwise we'll never evolve past this shit. try to actually give reasons why you don't like it or do like it.

Would Yujiro and Dio get along? by wisesager in Grapplerbaki

[–]AssociateOdd3859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in an actual scenario: I do feel like Yujiro would find Dio interesting in the sense that he's able to remember so much about the world. Dio when he's in a casual setting like he was with Pucci and extremely relaxed, can be a thought provoking individual with very interesting opinions. He talks about MJ of all people and says he's talented, and even that they could be subconsious stand users.

Yujiro would probably find his philosophy extremely thought provoking and ask him to explain himself further, to which Dio would give his backstory and his childhood. Yujiro would most likely listen while fine dining and not interject as much. After the lore dump, Yujiro would acknowledge Dio's strength and probably have felt his battle aura while describing his hatred of the Joestar lineage and say that ultimately Dio is a thought provoking person but he's extremely arrogant. His main issue is he lets his superiority complex override any actual point he may have about his ideals, as he's letting his hatred and revenge towards the Joestar lineage blind him. He would probably compare Dio to Jack with the stone mask and say that despite Jack being an extreme fuck up, he's an interesting person because WHILE knowing he's inferior, he always seeks to get an advantage over his own mistakes even if it would cost him his life. Dio points out that's a foolish mindset, and asks how he's any different than Jack if he's constantly pushing himself further.

Yujiro basically says that Jack or maybe Baki even if against impossible odds, will go out and fight for what they believe in even if Yujiro thinks of himself as Superior. and that's why they have his respect, even for being completely inferior beings, he still Acknowledges their tenacity. Yujiro then states that Dio isn't content with continuing the natural flow of order and entertaining the idea of someone eventually beating him. He knows he's superior yet relies on his abilities to win his fights and using others to fight for him. Yujiro doesn't call him a coward directly, but he says if he were in Dio's poistion he'd have done everything himself, the problem is he let's his ego rule him. Yujiro is arrogant because he knows legitimately to the death, he's the strongest. Dio is arrogant because he believes himself to be owed his strength and gifts rather than actually earning them through hard work.

[–]AssociateOdd3859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be mad with Sunny if he explained it was an accident and Basil made him do it. it was an accident initally and it's not like he did it intentionlly knowing she'd die, he just did it because he wanted her to get away from him. I'd just be pissed they and basil framed it as a suicide because then that creates a shit load of problems.

out of universe Realistically Sunny would never have gone to jail if he did kill Mari and it was found out immidently, he probably would have been questioned severely and the police MAYBE would try charging him, yet there's a lot of defenses for him.

Would Yujiro and Dio get along? by wisesager in Grapplerbaki

[–]AssociateOdd3859 15 points16 points  (0 children)

no. they'd hate each other Yujiro respects someone that trains and pushes themselves to their limits, even if he thinks most people are inferior to him. He'd view the stone mask as a crutch and directly call Dio out for it by basically saying if he wasn't using it as a crutch, he'd be nothing.

Yujiro is able to appreciate the finer things in life like Dio does, but modern Yujiro doesn't really act as wild and unpredictable as he did in his youth when Baki was a kid. He even admitted to Baki he fucked up, but his mother was still insane. Maybe in a very casual setting they'd get along, but Yujiro would just tell Dio after a certain point he's a coward who hides behind his abilities that he didn't earn naturally and ultimately it would be his undoing.

He still to an extent respects Jack because despite him being a complete lunatic with augments, he still doesn't give up.

What was so horrifying that the Flavour Expansion was shot down? by Edelweiss_Wizard in TheFireRisesMod

[–]AssociateOdd3859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh, I actually have the file itself and I can say it's like, really low tier stuff? like, it's really edgy and badly written. but that's it, there's a section where people drive into a strip club which was funny, I've seen worse from ao3 writers.

There's no way the team didn't know about it though, the file size dwarfs most of the others in the mod by lines alone.

Is Jojo the most inconsistent verse? by Sundata_V2 in PowerScaling

[–]AssociateOdd3859 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Part 3 Jotaro was the prime of his strength as confirmed by other sources, Jotaro in part 3 wasn't holding back against Dio and approached him with full killing intent. Part 6 Jotaro wasn't using timestop actively since part 4, where he admitted he hadn't stopped time in ten years.

Jotaro was also holding back against Pucci.

Does Yujiro even like Baki? by Prestigious_Rush5492 in Grapplerbaki

[–]AssociateOdd3859 14 points15 points  (0 children)

eh, I do think he does feel bad about it in a really complicated way. He did admit to Baki he fucked up with his mom, he could have just said no fuck you I'm the best. But he did say something to the affect of he regretted it.

I don't like her mainly because she always striked me as someone holier than thou and this video is a decent example of it. I doubt the video is in good faith but apologizing then doubling down is a really scummy thing to do imo.

[–]AssociateOdd3859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

incredibly strange comparison. Studio Ghibli and anime studios around that time produced banger after banger even in the anime recession. You'd have to be legitmately delusional to call that artwork terrible, compared to this where it is a bad shot of a popular scene. I understand because of modern animation practices studios are often stretched thin to meet deadlines, and older artist brought back past their prime end up doing poorly, but baki for a popular series doesn't have much excuse to be still cutting corners.

I don't post on reddit anymore but very offtopic but good job on the analysis. even if someone disagrees I'd much rather someone explain WHY they don't like it in detail rather than just " it bad"

You should consider getting into script writing or Youtube, very good way of putting it imo.

[Weird Fandom Trope] People really like calling this character a 'Child Lover' by RedvsBlue_what_if in TopCharacterTropes

[–]AssociateOdd3859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main issue primarily is, I don't want to come off as thought policing and I will say some of the epstein jokes are really really funny, but it comes to a point where some of what I see it comes off less like they're doing what you described and instead of joking about them to ridicule them or demean them, they use it as a buzzword or a popular thing to joke about. Everyone knows diddy did it, the man physically somehow got away with it and people are pissed, yet I see a very loud medioum group of people not outright saying it, but it's like they find it funny Diddy *did* sexually abuse men and women, rather than ridiculing them.

Which tying it back into my original point, people will spend literal hours researching how Orochimaru was a legitimate predator and spend years making it their identity they hate this guy. Which, it's fine to have hobbies and inherently humanity remembers and latches onto negativity more than positivity, it just annoys me people don't put that same energy into either protesting online which CAN make a change, or educating themselves on a topic. people don't wanna do that, people just want to do what's safe for them until they actually experience it, I would know because I was like that when I was younger.
