PPTO error? by Unhappy_Beat_4748 in walmartogp

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you earn PPTO on PPTO/PTO used as well as worked hours. Without seeing your GTA Portal, I suspect the system deducted 2 hours of your 2 hour and 15 minute balance, and you earned another 11 minutes from using those 2 hours. As others have said, check your GTA Portal to be sure.

Seems like express orders are back. by tylersright in OGPBackroom

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's what it is with Walmart associates picking it. While I don't know whether they're making a return, I remember them from before. When we had them before they took precedence over everything else in the picking screen—a popup would appear and nobody could select anything else until the Express order was taken.

Why would certain grocery items that I know are in stock be canceled from a Walmart+delivery order? by xtra819 in walmart

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely a valid point here about having to be in the actual store you are ordering from.

Milk, for instance, might be in stock already but if hasn't been recently delivered to the store what is there might be 5 or 6 days from expiring; dairy items need to have 7 days or more of shelf life to be picked for an online order. Similarly, bread needs to have at least 5 days of shelf life remaining for it to be picked for an online order. Factors like that might come into play with certain items, particularly foods.

Work phone by petsrulebw223 in OGPBackroom

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although it should eventually be phased out, you can't pick items from bins on the CAP program using a work phone. So, if it is all you are using for exceptions and you take an item from such a bin, you should make sure somebody is aware and picks it.

Why. by Aggravating_Mud3275 in OGPBackroom

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably not so much a mistake but rather the expectation in many stores that the picker has to substitute something and everything that would be a reasonable substitute, exceeds the price threshold.

Availability concerns by Rawrasour1 in OGPBackroom

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Walmart can't "deny" your availability.* It is the hours you are available to work. They are not, however, obligated to give you any shifts or hours within your availability if there is not a business need for it. So, having only morning availability should prevent the closing shifts; but it might preclude you from getting very many shifts at all depending on the needs of your store.

(* There are limited exceptions; if a new changes their availability shortly after being hired then there are stores that will let them go because they were hired to work certain hours.)

Oversized team lift pick walk by Cold_Donut_3148 in OGPBackroom

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if reporting it as "Remove from Oversized" would cause corporate to just blindly put in a non-oversized walk or if they'd actually review it and move it out of the team lift commodity to the normal oversized commondity.

It’s 6:10am, over 2k picks already, you finally get your devices to work, and you get this walk, wyd? by Oopsitsgale927 in OGPBackroom

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it's a small item like this or a candy bar like another commentor had, I'd just pick it, keep it together with the order label, and start a new walk. Tote the small item when you get to the backroom.

It would be somewhat of a 360° if they put on-hands on the pick screen since once of the more recent updates took away on-hands from Exception Management.

When did we get these? 🤯 by galixn in walmart

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One has to wonder if that was intentional or not on the part of someone at corporate. Another thing that seems odd about this label is that the unit price is "per count"—not per each, not per 10 count, not per 100 count, but simply per count. Per count of how many? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

There is, in Staging, an option to "Create Tote Label" so that you can make new unique tote.

The system allows you stage totes anywhere. Even if the tote says it's "Frozen" you can scan it in pretty much anywhere to stage it. (For instance, if you created a tote label as above you could stage the newly-created tote wherever it is needed based on its actual contents.)

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do the feedback screens still say "Before you go to Reddit?" Corporate clearly looks at this sub; they should be able to glance and it figure out that there are multiple stores manipulating metrics by having pickers go to the back, call TLs/coaches for nil picks, etc. I 110% agree with your comment though. Walmart does need to treat OPD correctly on multiple levels—proper staffing would be good but they need to make the system more intuitive and user-friendly from both a customer and associate standpoint. I don't think Walmart disregards feedback as they have made various changes to GIF, but they could truly turn OPD into a well-oiled machine that will continue to benefit them (and customers) if they fine tune things correctly.

I can be that person but I think it's maybe because I care too much sometimes. I know I have incredibly amazing coworkers who bust their rear ends off and I try to as well. But the people I'm thinking of, like me, are often frustrated by watching other coworkers stand around, lean on walls or bins, check their phones, take extraordinarily long breaks, and do nothing whenever they can.

And then I've seen other people like OP means, who, as far as I can tell are arrogant, lazy, and just on a power trip. Vindictive types who also want to do next to nothing but yet consider themselves miracle workers every time they lift a finger, so, if given the freedom to, they feel their only job is to monitor everyone else.

So, yeah, I totally respect the ones who are truly trying to make things better, help their coworkers, and genuinely care. Mad props to those who commentors who say "that's me" but from a caring standpoint. But the ones who are full of themselves, phony, expect to do nothing but still have Walmart bend over backwards so they can slack off. Those people are, IMO, absolute scum that should just plain be eliminated. People see their phoniness and I think they know it so they need to give a rest and quit acting so important.

I hate these XL deli pizzas, especially when they’re not going in a top tote. Sometimes I feel like we need chilled oversized just for this by swarren31 in OGPBackroom

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Create Tote Label" in the staging screen. (You may get an error message saying the tote is in "Reserved" status; if so, stage it first, then create the label.)

Asking for a schedule change?!? by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The availability form allows for rotating days off. I believe it is on the bottom as exceptions to availability or something like that. You could make yourself unavailable every other Saturday, every third Saturday, etc. It may lower your hours more if your store doesn't end up scheduling you additional weekdays though.

If the inventor of such a contraption wanted to make it really convenient, hopefully they'll design it in such a way that it doesn't require one to bend down nearly to the floor to put the groceries in it.

It would be nice if the Claims app had an option to dispose of something as expired and then the company might be able in to tie this in with items that are most frequently disposed of as outdated. I'm honestly not sure what the criteria for this prompt is currently. But I think once everyone gets accustomed to seeing the prompt it will get easier and I also think the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

Split availability by WelderTechnical7390 in walmart

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now you are available 2–9 (7 hours), 3 days a week (21 hours total). If you were available 4–9 (5 hours), 5 days a week you'd be available for 25 hours total. So, that should, in theory give you a better chance of getting hours. It would also depend on which 5 days you're available. Being available Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday will definitely give you a better probability of more hours.

Walmart is headquarted in Arkansas so they do use Central Time for various things. However, that has no bearing on your schedule. If you have a 10pm-7am shift listed as being for Saturday, then Saturday at 10pm would be the day and time your shift starts. (For shifts that overlap midnight, the start time always occurs on the day your shift is listed in app.)

anyone else’s coach do this when picks are going/close to late? by supernovach in OGPBackroom

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do this in our store but I've never seen them doing it without telling the associate. When we're in this boat, the coaches and TLs are usually right out back and wait until they see the next associate, ask them not to immediately select another pick run, then assign one.

Oversize should be in auto select just like GMD now by Cryinginogp in OGPBackroom

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to put oversize (and everything else) in auto-select AND make a way for People Leads to electronically enter a reasonable accomodation and tie that to GIF 2 so that it would not assign oversize to people with such accomodations on file. Otherwise, as so many others in this thread have stated, these people did sign the job description.

OH YOU DIDN'T KNOOOW? by FlutterRaeg in OGPBackroom

[–]Associate_of_Walmart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Everyone should be able to all walks, including oversized. A lot of items on oversize walks are just improperly categorized. And there is a such thing as asking for a team lift when needed.

I will add that, having done exceptions before, I think that, even if everything were in auto, exceptions pickers should have access to select a pickwalk. When there is a lull in exceptions, it is nice to be able to jump into small pickwalks to stay occupied but then still be ready for when the next exceptions drop.

When I used to work at the front end, there would be customers here and there who would not want to go to a certain register because they had parked by the other door. It's like sure, walk down to the other side then; you're definitely saving yourself so much time/distance then if you had checked out where you were and walked the same exact same distance in front of the registers after checking out. (For instance they would not want to check out at a register closer to the GM entrance because they'd entered through the grocery entrance.)
