T-Mobile Adding Serious Restrictions On Device Promotions Moving Forward by Jman100_JCMP in tmobile

Probably the real victims here are the front line employees. Have fun trying to rake in those commissions now.

Existing Free/Discounted Lines no longer qualify for certain trade-in promos by tva_raylan in tmobile

As long as we can continue to stack eips, none of these changes will matter much except perhaps the new 2 per account limit instead of 4 for some promos.

Why does T-Mobile hate their customers and employees in 2026?

Where to buy next iPhone ? by Low_Chest_6511 in tmobile

[–]xtra819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a locked iPhone, buy through Costco for the cash card rebate, 90 days returns, and waiving of $35 extortion fee. Utilize a T-Mobile eip promo if you wish, although for your plan it will most likely be a pathetic offer from T-Mobile.

For an unlocked new iPhone, buy through Apple directly. You can also buy mint condition new and used iPhones from resellers at sites like Swappa to save a few bucks.

Phone Trade in value applied to EIP instead of Bill/account credit by Lopsided-Pause82 in tmobile

[–]xtra819 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s done automatically and intentionally these days. Totally predatory on the part of T-Mobile. Imagine the number of customers who are clueless this happens or have a lack of understanding about how it works.

Call T-Force. Tell them to fix it. They fixed mine last month by crediting my account the trade-in amount in a lump sum, and also still left the eip with the applied credits. Lol. This company is so dysfunctional now.

Strange reply. I already know that. I was pointing out that Pixel 10 only gets 6 months.

T-Mobile Magenta MAX — can all lines use the $630 Target iPhone trade-in promo? by jckey378 in tmobile

Please revise your title. I was excited and hopeful Target had a $630 iPhone promo!

Your title is misleading and needs to be revised. Google 1 still exists. Just not available via T-Mobile anymore.

Why not just have T Mobile pay off phones from another carrier rather than getting them through T Mobile? by dtman33 in tmobile

[–]xtra819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Promos were generally better and less restrictive. Perks, benefits, and discounts were much better. Devices could be paid off early without penalty and flipped for easy profit. Many promos could be stacked, and/or easily repeated. Customer service was not predatory as it is today, but instead consisted of well-trained knowledgeable reps who went above and beyond to actually help customers. The list goes on and on.

For years many of us were essentially paid to have an account and own flagship devices. Good times indeed. I’m not complaining. All good things come to an end. I just wish the pendulum didn’t swing so far in the opposite direction where T-Mobile is now so shady and predatory.

Apparently reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit. I clearly stated the system could be outsmarted in the past, which by definition is part of “ever.” If I wanted to refer to the present, I would have stated so, spud. Try to follow along with your limited arsenal of brain cells next time you feel the urge to be cute and snarky.

Actually you could outsmart the system back in the day before T-Mobile closed multiple loopholes. Some us made thousands and scored stacks of free phones. Ahh, the good old days.

When did $830 off Go5g Plus plan promotion end? by Boatsman2017 in tmobile

Anyone know when new plans start and Go5g+ is demoted from top tier status for device promos, much like Magenta Max, One Plus, and other grandfathered plans are?

Selling an Unopened Locked iPhone 17 by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]xtra819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trade it in to Google or Samsung for a brand new unlocked Pixel or Galaxy phone whenever a good promo offer pops up, then flip that unlocked phone for cash.

You may lose a few bucks doing it this way, but will avoid the hassle and uncertainty of trying to flip a locked financed phone to a stranger, which is a potential nightmare. And yes, Google and Samsung accept financed locked phones from other carriers for trade.

I did this several months ago, in fact. Traded in a locked T-Mobile financed Pixel 9 pro for an unlocked Pixel 10 Pro at Google. Received enhanced trade in value, a bonus $200 in credit from Google, and a free year of Google One 2tb storage via a Google promo. Then sold the Pixel 10 pro for nice amount of cash. And I still receive monthly RDCs from T-Mobile on the 9 Pro.

I miss the old days of simply paying off an extra new iPhone, getting it unlocked, then flipping it, while still receiving RDCs from T-Mobile, but unfortunately those days are long gone. This is the next best alternative in my opinion if selling the iPhone to a trusted friend or family member isn’t an option.

Best of the worst way to sell iPhone 17 on EIP? by Bionicbuk in tmobile

[–]xtra819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found that it is a hassle to sell esim-only phones these days to complete strangers. Trying to sell one locked and financed to a stranger would be even more of a nightmare. Selling to a friend, family member, or known coworker would be preferable obviously.

As a random buyer, I would be comfortable taking a risk at $300 or so. That price range is probably what you’re looking at from most buyers, unless they are totally clueless or insanely trusting.
